Collimation system post-LS1: status and commissioning / Salvachua, B (CERN) ; Valentino, G (CERN) ; Aberle, O (CERN) ; Albertone, J (CERN) ; Athanasiadis, S (CERN) ; Baglin, V (CERN) ; Bertarelli, A (CERN) ; Boccard, C (CERN) ; Bruce, R (CERN) ; Carra, F (CERN) et al.
The LHC collimation system has undergone an important upgrade during LS1. A total of 32 collimator installations are taking place to consolidate and improve the Run 1 system. [...]

Progress with Long-Range Beam-Beam Compensation Studies for High Luminosity LHC / Rossi, Adriana (CERN) ; Aberle, Oliver (CERN) ; Albertone, Joel (CERN) ; Barnyakov, Alexey (Novosibirsk, IYF) ; Bertarelli, Alessandro (CERN) ; Boccard, Christian (CERN) ; Carra, Federico (CERN) ; Cattenoz, Gregory (CERN) ; Delaup, Yorick (CERN) ; Fartoukh, Stephane (CERN) et al.
Long-range beam-beam (LRBB) interactions can be a source of emittance growth and beam losses in the LHC during physics and will become even more relevant with the smaller '* and higher bunch intensities foreseen for the High Luminosity LHC upgrade (HL-LHC), in particular if operated without crab cavities. Both beam losses and emittance growth could be mitigated by compensat-ing the non-linear LRBB kick with a correctly placed current carrying wire. [...]

Acoustic measurements in the collimation region of the LHC / Deboy, D (CERN) ; Assmann, R W (CERN) ; Baccigalupi, C (CERN) ; Burkart, F (CERN) ; Cauchi, M (CERN) ; Derrez, C S (CERN) ; Lendaro, J (CERN) ; Masi, A (CERN) ; Spiezia, G (CERN) ; Wollmann, D (CERN)
The LHC accelerator at CERN has the most advanced collimation system ever being installed. The collimators intercept unavoidable particle losses and therefore are essential to avoid beam induced quenches of the superconducting magnets. [...]

New Generation CERN LHC Injection Dump - Assembly and Installation (TDIS) / Carbajo Perez, David (CERN) ; Berthomé, Emmanuel (CERN) ; Bertone, Caterina (CERN) ; Biancacci, Nicolo (CERN) ; Bracco, Chiara (CERN) ; Bregliozzi, Giuseppe (CERN) ; Bulat, Bartosz (CERN) ; Cadiou, Cyril (CERN) ; Calviani, Marco (CERN) ; Cattenoz, Gregory (CERN) et al.
During CERN’s LS2, several upgrades were performed to beam intercepting devices in the framework of the HL-LHC Project. Upgraded equipment includes two internal beam dumps (TDIS) intended for machine protection located at the injection points from the SPS to the LHC. [...]

Availabilty for post-LS1 operation / Apollonio, A (CERN) ; Ponce, L (CERN) ; Schmidt, R (CERN) ; Todd, B (CERN) ; Wollmann, D (CERN) ; Zerlauth, M (CERN)
Availability is one of the key factors to be taken into account to improve the LHC performance after LS1 and for future LHC upgrades. A comprehensive view of LHC availability in 2012 is given in this paper, based on the analyses of the Availability Working Group. [...]

LHC Status & Plan before HL-LHC   / Zimmermann, F (CERN)
WP: 4: AccNet: Accelerator Science Networks
Task: 4.2: EuroLumi

After reviewing the LHC history and, in particular, the performance and key issues from 2010-12, the plans and expectations for operation close to design energy post-LS1 until about 2022, including possible operation modes with 25 and 50-ns bunch spacing and pertinent open questions, are discussed [...]
