Characterisation of Medipix3 Silicon Detectors in a Charged-Particle Beam / Akiba, K. (Rio de Janeiro Federal U.) ; Alozy, J. (CERN) ; Aoude, R.Tourinho (Rio de Janeiro, Pont. U. Catol.) ; van Beuzekom, M. (NIKHEF, Amsterdam) ; Buytaert, J. (CERN) ; Collins, P. (CERN) ; Dosil Suárez, A. (Santiago de Compostela U.) ; Dumps, R. (CERN) ; Gallas, A. (Santiago de Compostela U.) ; Hombach, C. (Manchester U.) et al.
While designed primarily for X-ray imaging applications, the Medipix3 ASIC can also be used for charged-particle tracking. In this work, results from a beam test at the CERN SPS with irradiated and non-irradiated sensors are presented and shown to be in agreement with simulation, demonstrating the suitability of the Medipix3 ASIC as a tool for characterising pixel sensors..

Test of lepton universality with $B^{0} \rightarrow K^{*0}\ell^{+}\ell^{-}$ decays / LHCb Collaboration
A test of lepton universality, performed by measuring the ratio of the branching fractions of the $B^{0} \rightarrow K^{*0}\mu^{+}\mu^{-}$ and $B^{0} \rightarrow K^{*0}e^{+}e^{-}$ decays, $R_{K^{*0}}$, is presented. The $K^{*0}$ meson is reconstructed in the final state $K^{+}\pi^{-}$, which is required to have an invariant mass within 100$\mathrm{\,MeV}c^2$ of the known $K^{*}(892)^{0}$ mass. [...]

Probing active-edge silicon sensors using a high precision telescope / Akiba, K (Rio de Janeiro Federal U.) ; Artuso, M (Syracuse U.) ; van Beveren, V (NIKHEF, Amsterdam) ; van Beuzekom, M (NIKHEF, Amsterdam) ; Boterenbrood, H (NIKHEF, Amsterdam) ; Buytaert, J (CERN) ; Collins, P (CERN) ; Dumps, R (CERN) ; van der Heijden, B (NIKHEF, Amsterdam) ; Hombach, C (Manchester U.) et al.
The performance of prototype active-edge VTT sensors bump-bonded to the Timepix ASIC is presented. Non-irradiated sensors of thicknesses 100–200 μm and pixel-to-edge distances of 50 μm and 100 μm were probed with a beam of charged hadrons with sub-pixel precision using the Timepix telescope assembled at the SPS at CERN. First observation of a baryonic $B_s^0$ decay / LHCb Collaboration
We report the first observation of a baryonic $B_s^0$ decay, $B_s^0 \to p \kern 0.1em\overline{\kern -0.1em\Lambda} K^-$, using proton-proton collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $3.0\,\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$. The branching fraction is measured to be $ \mathcal{B}(B_s^0 \to p \kern 0.1em\overline{\kern -0.1em\Lambda} K^-) + \mathcal{B}(B_s^0 \to \bar{p} \Lambda K^+) = \left[5.46 \pm 0.61 \pm 0.57 \pm 0.50 (\mathcal{B}) \pm 0.32 (f_s/f_d)\right]\times 10^{-6}, $ where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic, the third uncertainty accounts for the experimental uncertainty on the branching fraction of the $B^0 \to p \kern 0.1em\overline{\kern -0.1em\Lambda} \pi^-$ decay used for normalization, and the fourth uncertainty relates to the knowledge of the ratio of $b$-quark hadronization probabilities $f_s/f_d$..

Search for long-lived scalar particles in $B^+ \to K^+ \chi (\mu^+\mu^-)$ decays / LHCb Collaboration
A search for a long-lived scalar particle $\chi$ is performed, looking for the decay ${B^+ \to K^+ \chi}$ with ${\chi \to \mu^+\mu^-}$ in $pp$ collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $3\, {\rm fb}^{-1}$, collected by the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of $\sqrt{s}=7$ and 8$\,$TeV. This new scalar particle, predicted by Hidden Sector models, is assumed to have a narrow width. [...]

The LHCb detector has undergone a major upgrade for LHC Run 3. This Upgrade I detector facilitates operation at higher luminosity and utilises full-detector information at the LHC collision rate, critically including the use of vertex information. [...]

Measurement of $\Upsilon$ production in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 7$ TeV / LHCb Collaboration
The production of Upsilon(1S), Upsilon(2S) and Upsilon(3S) mesons in proton-proton collisions at the centre-of-mass energy of sqrt(s)=7 TeV is studied with the LHCb detector. The analysis is based on a data sample of 25 pb-1 collected at the Large Hadron Collider. [...]

Opposite-side flavour tagging of $B$ mesons at the LHCb experiment / LHCb Collaboration
The calibration and performance of the opposite-side flavour tagging algorithms used for the measurements of time-dependent asymmetries at the LHCb experiment are described. The algorithms have been developed using simulated events and optimized and calibrated with B+ -> J/psi K+, B0 -> J/psi K*0 and B0 -> D*- mu+ nu_mu decay modes with 0.37 fb^-1 of data collected in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV during the 2011 physics run.
