Intensity limits of the PSI Injector II cyclotron
/ Kolano, Anna (CERN ; PSI, Villigen ; Huddersfield U.) ; Adelmann, Andreas (PSI, Villigen) ; Barlow, Roger (Huddersfield U.) ; Baumgarten, Christian (PSI, Villigen)
We investigate limits on the current of the PSI Injector II high intensity separate-sector isochronous cyclotron, in its present configuration and after a proposed upgrade. Accelerator Driven Subcritical Reactors, neutron and neutrino experiments, and medical isotope production all benefit from increases in current, even at the ~ 10% level: the PSI cyclotrons provide relevant experience. Merlin++, a flexible and feature-rich accelerator physics and particle tracking library
/ Appleby, Robert B. (U. Manchester (main) ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Barlow, Roger J. (Huddersfield U.) ; Kruecker, Dirk (DESY) ; Molson, James (CERN) ; Rowan, Scott (Huddersfield U.) ; Tygier, Sam (U. Manchester (main)) ; Rafique, Haroon (CERN) ; Walker, Nicholas (DESY) ; Wolski, Andrzej (U. Liverpool (main) ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.)
Merlin++ is a C++ charged-particle tracking library developed for the simulation and analysis of complex beam dynamics within high energy particle accelerators. Accurate simulation and analysis of particle dynamics is an essential part of the design of new particle accelerators, and for the optimization of existing ones. [...]

The SwissFEL Injector Test Facility operated at the Paul Scherrer Institute between 2010 and 2014, serving as a pilot plant and test bed for the development and realization of SwissFEL, the x-ray Free Electron Laser facility under construction at the same institute. The test facility consisted of a laser-driven rf electron gun followed by an S-band booster linac, a magnetic bunch compression chicane and a diagnostic section including atransverse deflecting rf cavity. The PSI positron production project
/ Vallis, Nicolas (PSI, Villigen ; Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Craievich, Paolo (PSI, Villigen) ; Schaer, Mattia (PSI, Villigen) ; Zennaro, Riccardo (PSI, Villigen) ; Auchmann, Bernhard (PSI, Villigen) ; Besana, Maria Ilaria (PSI, Villigen) ; Duda, Michal (PSI, Villigen) ; Fortunati, Reto (PSI, Villigen) ; Garcia Rodrigues, Henrique (PSI, Villigen) ; Hauenstein, Dominique (PSI, Villigen) et al.
The PSI Positron Production experiment, known as $\text{P}^{3}$ or $\textit{P-cubed}$, is a proof-of-principle positron source and capture system that can greatly improve the state-of-the-art positron yield. The $\text{P}^{3}$ project is led by the Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland, and addresses the long-standing challenge faced by conventional injector facilities to generate, capture, and damp the emittance of high-current positron beam, which is a major limiting factor for the feasibility of future electron-positron colliders.
