Beam Physics for the 12 GeV CEBAF Upgrade Project / Merminga, Lia ; Benesch, Jay ; Bogacz, S A ; Chao Yu Chiu ; Freyberger, Arne ; Grames, Joseph M ; Harwood, Leigh ; Kazimi, Reza ; Krafft, Geoffrey A ; Spata, Michael et al.
Beam physics aspects of the 12 GeV Upgrade of CEBAF are presented. The CEBAF Upgrade to 12 GeV is achieved via 5.5 recirculations through the linacs, and the installation of 10 new high-gradient cryomodules. [...]

Injection Options for 12 GeV CEBAF Upgrade / Kazimi, Reza ; Benesch, Jay ; Chao Yu Chiu ; Grames, Joseph M ; Krafft, Geoffrey A ; Tiefenback, Michael ; Yunn, Byung C ; Zhang, Yuhong
Jefferson Lab is planning to upgrade the CEBAF accelerator from 6 to 12 GeV. In order to achieve this, the beam energy at injection into the main accelerator needs to increase from 67 MeV to either 123 or 134 MeV depending on the location of the new experimental hall relative to the accelerator. Measuring and Controlling the Energy Spread in CEBAF / Krafft, G A (Jefferson Lab) ; Denard, J C (Jefferson Lab) ; Dickson, R W (Jefferson Lab) ; Kazimi, R (Jefferson Lab) ; Lebedev, V A (Jefferson Lab) ; Tiefenback, M G (Jefferson Lab)
As compared to electron storage rings, one advantage of recirculating linear accelerators is that the beam properties at target are no longer dominated by the equilibrium between quantum radiative diffusion and radiation damping because new beam is continually injected into the accelerator. This allows the energy spread from a CEBAF-type machine to be relatively small; the measured energy spread from CEBAF at 4 GeV is less than 100 parts per million accumulated over times of order several days.
