A High-Granularity Timing Detector for the Phase-II upgrade of the ATLAS Calorimeter system: detector concept, description and R&D and beam test results / Castillo Garcia, Lucia (Institut de Fisica d'Altes Energies (IFAE), Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology, Barcelona, Spain) /ATLAS Collaboration
The increase of the particle flux (pile-up) at the HL-LHC with luminosities of L ≃ 7.5 × 1034 cm−2s−1 will have a severe impact on the ATLAS detector reconstruction and trigger performance. The end-cap and forward region where the liquid Argon calorimeter has coarser granularity and the inner tracker has poorer momentum resolution will be particularly affected. [...]

Design and integration of a SiPM based Timing Reference for ATLAS HGTD test beam / Posopkina, Olga Vladlena ; Gkougkousis, Vagelis (Universitat Politecnica Catalunya (ES)) ; Castillo Garcia, Lucia (The Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) (ES))
For the upcoming high luminosity upgrade of the LHC, CERN is considering the addition of the High Granularity Timing Detector (HGTD) in front of the end cap and forward calorimeters of ATLAS detector to mitigate pile-up effects. [...]

Performance studies of Low Gain Avalanche Detectors for the ATLAS High Granularity Timing Detector / Castillo Garcia, Lucia (The Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) (ES)) /ATLAS Collaboration
The High Granularity Timing Detector (HGTD) is designed for the mitigation of pile-up effects in the ATLAS forward region and for bunch per bunch luminosity measurements. HGTD, based on Low Gain Avalanche Detector (LGAD) technology and covering the pseudorapidity region between 2.4 and 4.0, will provide high precision timing information to distinguish between collisions occurring close in space but well-separated in time. [...]

A High-Granularity Timing Detector for the Phase-II upgrade of the ATLAS Calorimeter system: beam test results / Castillo Garcia, Lucia (Institut de Fisica d'Altes Energies (IFAE), Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology, Barcelona, Spain) /ATLAS Collaboration
The expected increase of the particle flux at the high luminosity phase of the LHC (HL-LHC) with instantaneous luminosities up to L ≃ 7.5 × 1034 cm−2 s-1 will have a severe impact on the ATLAS detector performance. The pile-up is expected to increase on average to 200 interactions per bunch crossing. [...]

A High-Granularity Timing Detector for the Phase-II upgrade of the ATLAS detector / Wu, Yusheng (University of Science and Technology of China) /ATLAS Collaboration
The increase of the particle flux (pile-up) at the HL-LHC with luminosities of L ≃ 7.5 × 10^34 cm^−2s^−1 will have a severe impact on the ATLAS detector reconstruction and trigger performance. The end-cap and forward region where the liquid Argon calorimeter has coarser granularity and the inner tracker has poorer longitudinal vertex position resolution will be particularly affected. [...]
