/ Scheck, M (Liverpool U.) ; Jones, P (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Rahkila, P (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Butler, P A (Liverpool U.) ; Larsen, A C (Oslo U.) ; Sandzelius, M (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Scholey, C (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Carrol, R J (Liverpool U.) ; Papadakis, P (Liverpool U.) ; Jakobsson, U (Jyvaskyla U.) et al.
By exploiting the SAGE spectrometer a simultaneous measurement of conversion electrons and gamma rays emitted in the de-excitation of excited levels in the neutron-deficient nuclei (184,186)Hg was performed. The light Hg isotopes under investigation were produced using the 4n channels of the fusion-evaporation reactions of (40)Ar and (148,150)Sm. [...]

Shape coexistence in neutron-deficient Hg isotopes studied via lifetime measurements in $^{184,186}$Hg and two-state mixing calculations
/ Gaffney, L.P. (Liverpool U. ; Leuven U.) ; Hackstein, M. (Cologne U.) ; Page, R.D. (Liverpool U.) ; Grahn, T. (Liverpool U. ; Jyvaskyla U.) ; Scheck, M. (Liverpool U. ; Darmstadt, Tech. The neutron-deficient mercury isotopes, $^{184,186}$Hg, were studied with the Recoil Distance Doppler Shift (RDDS) method using the Gammasphere array and the K\"oln Plunger device. The Differential Decay Curve Method (DDCM) was employed to determine the lifetimes of the yrast states in $^{184,186}$Hg. [...]

High-precision mass measurements of neutron-deficient Tl (A=184, 186, 190, 193–195, 198) isotopes as well as Pb (A=202,208), Fr (A=207,208), and Ra (A=224) are performed with the Penning-trap mass spectrometer ISOLTRAP at ISOLDE/CERN. The improved precision of the mass data now allows the study of subtle odd-even effects. [...]

The neutron-deficient mercury isotopes serve as a classical example of shape coexistence, whereby at low energy near-degenerate nuclear states characterized by different shapes appear. The electromagnetic structure of even-mass $^{182-188}$ Hg isotopes was studied using safe-energy Coulomb excitation of neutron-deficient mercury beams delivered by the REX-ISOLDE facility at CERN.
