The software alignment of planar tracking detectors using samples of charged particle trajectories may lead to global detector distortions that affect vertex and momentum resolution. We present an alignment procedure that constrains such distortions by making use of samples of decay vertices reconstructed from two or more trajectories and putting constraints on their invariant mass. Determination of $f_s/f_d$ for 7 TeV $pp$ collisions and a measurement of the branching fraction of the decay $B^0 \to D^{-}K^{+}$ / LHCb Collaboration
The relative abundance of the three decay modes $B^0 \to D^- K^+$, $B^0 \to D^- \pi^+$ and $B^0_s \to D_s^- \pi^+$ produced in 7 TeV $pp$ collisions at the LHC is determined from data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35 pb$^{-1}$. The branching fraction of $B^0 \to D^- K^+$ is found to be $\cal B (B^0 \to D^- K^+) = (2.01 \pm 0.18^{\textrm{stat}} \pm 0.14^{\textrm{syst}})\times 10^{-4}$. [...]

Measurement of $\sigma (pp \to b\overline{b}X)$ at $\sqrt{s}$=7 TeV in the forward region / LHCb Collaboration
Decays of b hadrons into final states containing a D0 meson and a muon are used to measure the b anti-b production cross-section in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV at the LHC. In the pseudorapidity interval 2 < eta < 6 and integrated over all transverse momenta we find that the average cross-section to produce b-flavoured or anti-b-flavoured hadrons is (75.3 +/- 5.4 +/- 13.0) microbarns..

Prompt $K_{S}^{0}$ production in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 0.9 TeV / LHCb Collaboration
