50 Years of Quantum Chromodynamics / Gross, Franz (Jefferson Lab ; William-Mary Coll.) ; Klempt, Eberhard (Bonn U., HISKP) ; Brodsky, Stanley J. (SLAC) ; Buras, Andrzej J. (TUM-IAS, Munich) ; Burkert, Volker D. (Jefferson Lab) ; Heinrich, Gudrun (KIT, Karlsruhe, TP) ; Jakobs, Karl (Freiburg U.) ; Meyer, Curtis A. This paper presents a comprehensive review of both the theory and experimental successes of Quantum Chromodynamics, starting with its emergence as a well defined theory in 1972-73 and following developments and results up to the present day. Topics include a review of the earliest theoretical and experimental foundations; the fundamental constants of QCD; an introductory discussion of lattice QCD, the only known method for obtaining exact predictions from QCD; methods for approximating QCD, with special focus on effective field theories; QCD under extreme conditions; measurements and predictions of meson and baryon states; a special discussion of the structure of the nucleon; techniques for study of QCD at high energy, including treatment of jets and showers; measurements at colliders; weak decays and quark mixing; and a section on the future, which discusses new experimental facilities or upgrades currently funded. Measurement of the total cross section and $\rho$-parameter from elastic scattering in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV with the ATLAS detector / ATLAS Collaboration
In a special run of the LHC with $\beta^\star = 2.5$~km, proton--proton elastic-scattering events were recorded at $\sqrt{s} = 13$~TeV with an integrated luminosity of $340~\mu \textrm{b}^{-1}$ using the ALFA subdetector of ATLAS in 2016. The elastic cross section was measured differentially in the Mandelstam $t$ variable in the range from $-t = 2.5 \cdot 10^{-4}$~GeV$^{2}$ to $-t = 0.46$~GeV$^{2}$ using 6.9 million elastic-scattering candidates. Feasibility of elastic scattering measurements in the dip region at TEVATRON energies in the LHC / Burkhardt, Helmut (CERN) ; Grafstrom, Per (Universita e INFN, Bologna (IT))
We look into the feasibility of measuring pp forward scattering in the dip region around −t = 0.6 GeV2 at the LHC at energies comparable to the pp measurements at the TEVATRON

The new LUCID-2 detector for luminosity measurement and monitoring in ATLAS / Avoni, G (INFN, Bologna ; Bologna U.) ; Bruschi, M (INFN, Bologna) ; Cabras, G (INFN, Bologna ; Bologna U.) ; Caforio, D (IEAP CTU, Prague) ; Dehghanian, N (Alberta U.) ; Floderus, A (Lund U.) ; Giacobbe, B (INFN, Bologna) ; Giannuzzi, F (INFN, Bologna ; Bologna U.) ; Giorgi, F (INFN, Bologna ; Bologna U.) ; Grafström, P (INFN, Bologna ; Bologna U.) et al.
The ATLAS luminosity monitor, LUCID (LUminosity Cherenkov Integrating Detector), had to be upgraded for the second run of the LHC accelerator that started in spring 2015. The increased energy of the proton beams and the higher luminosity required a redesign of LUCID to cope with the more demanding conditions. [...]

Choice and characterization of photomultipliers for the new ATLAS LUCID detector / Alberghi, G L (INFN, Bologna ; Bologna U.) ; Bruschi, M (INFN, Bologna) ; Caforio, D (IEAP CTU, Prague) ; Dehghanian, N (Alberta U.) ; Floderus, A (Lund U.) ; Giacobbe, B (INFN, Bologna) ; Giannuzzi, F (INFN, Bologna ; Bologna U.) ; Grafström, P (INFN, Bologna ; Bologna U.) ; Hedberg, V (Lund U.) ; Manghi, F Lasagni (INFN, Bologna ; Bologna U.) et al.
The luminosity monitor LUCID (LUminosity Cherenkov Integrating Detector) employed in the ATLAS experiment at the LHC had to be upgraded for the second run of LHC (Run 2) that started in spring 2015. The increased energy of the proton beams and the higher luminosity implied that the Photomultipliers of the original LUCID detector had to be replaced for Run 2 to cope with the more demanding conditions. Femtoscopy with identified charged pions in proton-lead collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}}=5.02$ TeV with ATLAS / ATLAS Collaboration
Bose-Einstein correlations between identified charged pions are measured for $p$+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}}=5.02$ TeV using data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of $28~\mathrm{nb}^{-1}$. Pions are identified using ionization energy loss measured in the pixel detector. [...]

Measurement of the $t\bar{t}$ production cross section in the $\tau$ + jets final state in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=8$ TeV using the ATLAS detector / ATLAS Collaboration
A measurement of the inclusive $pp\to t\bar{t}+X$ production cross section in the $\tau+{\rm jets}$ final state using only the hadronic decays of the $\tau$ lepton is presented. The measurement is performed using 20.2 fb$^{-1}$ of proton-proton collision data recorded at a center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}=8$ TeV with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. [...]
