At Gliderol Stadium down at the Bay, the Tigers faced the Double Blues in twilight conditions. The Tigers nicked the points in their last face-off, a single kick deciding the result in Round 13 last season. Over 5000 people turned out for this one, furthering the case for Glenelg's proposed foray into night football next year.
The Blues were definitely missing the Chambers factor, an inaccurate 1.5 first term to the Tigers' 2.1 setting a two-point deficit at quarter-time. The Blues finally found their goal-kicking boots in the second term as the inaccuracy bug payed a visit to the home camp, who kicked 2.7 to Sturt's 5.2. At the long break, the Blues held an 11-point lead. When play resumed the Tigers were seemingly reduced to spectators as the Double Blues blasted away to a 41-point lead by three quarter-time, after kicking 5.4 to the Tigers' meagre four behinds. But after the Blues kicked another 1.1 to start the final quarter... what proceeded after that was unthinkable. In a comeback effort not seen by the Bays since the mid-1930's, Glenelg smashed through the Blues defence to kick 10.7. Double Blues fans would have been left speechless and dumbfounded as their team went down by 19 points.
Ben Kane was named best on ground for the Tigers, while Sturt named Adam Thomson as their best.
