During the past 2 years the Superconducting Proton Linac (SPL) study has grown into an international collaboration with the goal of optimising the architecture of a pulsed superconducting (SC) high-power proton linac. This effort includes the study and prototyping of major technical components, such as SC high-gradient cavities, power couplers, the RF distribution system, HOM couplers, cryo-modules, focusing elements, etc. [...]

State of the Art of Niobium Machining for SRF Applications / Naisson, Pierre (CERN) ; Atieh, Said (CERN) ; Dumont, Floriant (Lab. Hubert Curien, St. Etienne) ; Fabre, Dorian (Lab. Hubert Curien, St. Etienne) ; Scibor, Karol (CERN) ; Trubacova, Pavlina (CERN) ; Valiorgue, Frederic (Lab. Hubert Curien, St. Etienne)
Niobium is a demanding material to be machined. Its low hardness, high melting temperature and abrasivity leads to poor cutting condition, and surface quality and shape accuracy could be difficult to achieve, especially for complex shapes such as HOM antennas. [...]

HL-LHC Crab Cavity HOM Couplers: Challenges and Results / Mitchell, James (CERN) ; Calaga, Rama (CERN) ; Montesinos, Eric (CERN)
To compensate for the detrimental effect of the crossing angle on luminosity production in the High Luminosity Large Hadron Collider’s (HL-LHC) interaction regions, superconducting crab cavities (vertical and horizontal) will be installed at the two interaction regions of the ATLAS and CMS experiments. Both cavity designs use multiple Higher Order Mode (HOM) couplers to reduce beam instabilities and heat loads caused by the very high proton current in the HL-LHC. [...]

LHC Crab Cavity Coupler Test Boxes / Mitchell, James (Lancaster U.) ; Apsimon, Robert (Lancaster U.) ; Burt, Graeme (Lancaster U.) ; Calaga, Rama (CERN) ; Macpherson, Alick (CERN) ; Montesinos, Eric (CERN) ; Silva, Subashini (Old Dominion U.) ; Tutte, Adam (Lancaster U.) ; Xiao, Binping (RIKEN BNL)
The LHC double quarter wave (DQW) crab cavities have two different types of Higher Order Mode (HOM) couplers in addition to a fundamental power coupler (FPC). The FPC requires conditioning, so to achieve this we have designed a radio-frequency (RF) quarter wave resonator to provide high transmission between two opposing FPCs. [...]
