Track Reconstruction with Cosmic Ray Data at the Tracker Integration Facility / CMS Collaboration
The subsystems of the CMS silicon strip tracker were integrated and commissioned at the Tracker Integration Facility (TIF) in the period from November 2006 to July 2007. As part of the commissioning, large samples of cosmic ray data were recorded under various running conditions in the absence of a magnetic field. [...]

Energy clustering, Calibration and Particle Identification with the CMS Preshower detector / Chang, Chiu-ping (Taiwan, Natl. Central U.) ; Tseng, Shih-yen (Taiwan, Natl. Central U.) /CMS Collaboration
The Preshower detector is located in front of the CMS endcap electromagnetic calorimeter. It is a sampling detector with two layers of lead absorber, each followed by 1.9 mm pitch silicon strip sensors. [...]

Intercalibration of the barrel electromagnetic calorimeter of the CMS experiment at start-up / CMS ECAL Collaboration
Calibration of the relative response of the individual channels of the barrel electromagnetic calorimeter of the CMS detector was accomplished before installation with cosmic ray muons and test beams. One fourth of the calorimeter was exposed to a beam of high energy electrons and the relative calibration of the channels, the intercalibration, was found to be reproducible to a precision of about 0.3\%. [...]

Alignment and detection efficiency of CMS Preshower detector / Tzeng, Yeng-Ming (Taiwan, Natl. Taiwan U.) /CMS Collaboration
The Preshower detector, as part of the CMS Endcap electromagnetic calorimeter (ECAL), is designed to have good spatial resolution to measure the position of incoming particles and thus aid particle identification in the endcaps. It comprises two layers of lead absorbers, each followed by silicon strip sensors with 1.9mm pitch. [...]

A New Boson with a Mass of 125 GeV Observed with the CMS Experiment at the Large Hadron Collider / CMS Collaboration
The Higgs boson was postulated nearly five decades ago within the framework of the standard model of particle physics and has been the subject of numerous searches at accelerators around the world. Its discovery would verify the existence of a complex scalar field thought to give mass to three of the carriers of the electroweak force—the W+, W–, and Z0 bosons—as well as to the fundamental quarks and leptons. [...]
