Parton Showers beyond Leading Logarithmic Accuracy / Dasgupta, Mrinal (U. Manchester (main)) ; Dreyer, Frédéric A. (Oxford U., Theor. Phys.) ; Hamilton, Keith (U. Coll. London) ; Monni, Pier Francesco (CERN) ; Salam, Gavin P. (Oxford U., Theor. Phys.) ; Soyez, Gregory (IPhT, Saclay)
Parton showers are among the most widely used tools in collider physics. Despite their key importance, none so far has been able to demonstrate accuracy beyond a basic level known as leading logarithmic (LL) order, with ensuing limitations across a broad spectrum of physics applications. [...]

Parton Showering with Higher Logarithmic Accuracy for Soft Emissions / Ferrario Ravasio, Silvia (CERN) ; Hamilton, Keith (University Coll. London) ; Karlberg, Alexander (CERN) ; Salam, Gavin P. (Oxford U., Theor. Phys. ; Oxford U.) ; Scyboz, Ludovic (Oxford U., Theor. Phys.) ; Soyez, Gregory (CERN ; IPhT, Saclay)
The accuracy of parton-shower simulations is often a limiting factor in the interpretation of data from high-energy colliders. We present the first formulation of parton showers with accuracy one order beyond state-of-the-art next-to-leading logarithms, for classes of observable that are dominantly sensitive to low-energy (soft) emissions, specifically non-global observables and subjet multiplicities. Matching and event-shape NNDL accuracy in parton showers / Hamilton, Keith (University Coll. London) ; Karlberg, Alexander (Oxford U., Theor. Phys. ; CERN) ; Salam, Gavin P. (Oxford U., Theor. Phys. ; Oxford U.) ; Scyboz, Ludovic (Oxford U., Theor. Phys.) ; Verheyen, Rob (University Coll. London)
To explore the interplay of NLO matching and next-to-leading logarithmic (NLL) parton showers, we consider the simplest case of $\gamma^*$ and Higgs-boson decays to $q\bar q$ and $gg$ respectively. Not only should shower NLL accuracy be retained across observables after matching, but for global event-shape observables and the two-jet rate, matching can augment the shower in such a way that it additionally achieves next-to-next-to-double-logarithmic (NNDL) accuracy, a first step on the route towards general NNLL. Logarithmic accuracy of parton showers: a fixed-order study / Dasgupta, Mrinal (Manchester U.) ; Dreyer, Frédéric A. (MIT, Cambridge, CTP) ; Hamilton, Keith (University Coll. London ; CERN) ; Monni, Pier Francesco (CERN) ; Salam, Gavin P. (CERN ; MIT)
We formulate some first fundamental elements of an approach for assessing the logarithmic accuracy of parton-shower algorithms based on two broad criteria: their ability to reproduce the singularity structure of multi-parton matrix elements, and their ability to reproduce logarithmic resummation results. We illustrate our approach by considering properties of two transverse momentum ordered final-state showers, examining features up to second order in the strong coupling. [...]

Threshold resummation for the production of four top quarks at the LHC / van Beekveld, Melissa (Oxford U., Theor. Phys.) ; Kulesza, Anna (Munster U., ITP ; CERN) ; Valero, Laura Moreno (Munster U., ITP)
We compute the total cross section for $t\bar{t}t\bar{t}$ production at next-to-leading logarithmic (NLL$^{\prime}$) accuracy. This is the first time resummation is performed for a hadron-collider process with four colored particles in the final state. [...]

Higher-order non-global logarithms from jet calculus / Banfi, Andrea (Sussex U.) ; Dreyer, Frédéric A. (Oxford U., Theor. Phys.) ; Monni, Pier Francesco (CERN)
Non-global QCD observables are characterised by a sensitivity to the full angular distribution of soft radiation emitted coherently in hard scattering processes. This complexity poses a challenge to their all-order resummation, that was formulated at the leading-logarithmic order about two decades ago. [...]

Next-to-leading non-global logarithms in QCD / Banfi, Andrea (Sussex U.) ; Dreyer, Frédéric A. (Oxford U., Ctr. Quantum Comp.) ; Monni, Pier Francesco (CERN)
Non-global logarithms arise from the sensitivity of collider observables to soft radiation in limited angular regions of phase space. Their resummation to next-to-leading logarithmic (NLL) order has been a long standing problem and its solution is relevant in the context of precision all-order calculations in a wide variety of collider processes and observables. Next-to-leading-logarithmic PanScales showers for Deep Inelastic Scattering and Vector Boson Fusion / van Beekveld, Melissa (Oxford U., Theor. Phys.) ; Ferrario Ravasio, Silvia (CERN)
We introduce the first family of parton showers that achieve next-to-leading logarithmic (NLL) accuracy for processes involving a $t$-channel exchange of a colour-singlet, and embed them in the PanScales framework. These showers are applicable to processes such as deep inelastic scattering (DIS), vector boson fusion (VBF), and vector boson scattering (VBS). [...]
