A perturbative approach to the hydrodynamics of heavy ion collisions / Floerchinger, Stefan (CERN) ; Wiedemann, Urs Achim (CERN) ; Beraudo, Andrea (INFN, Turin) ; Del Zanna, Luca (Florence U. ; INFN, Florence ; Arcetri Observ.) ; Inghirami, Gabriele (Florence U. ; INFN, Florence) ; Rolando, Valentina (INFN, Ferrara ; Ferrara U.)
Initial fluctuations in hydrodynamic fields such as energy density or flow velocity give access to understanding initial state and equilibration physics as well as thermodynamic and transport properties. We provide evidence that the fluid dynamic propagation of fluctuations of realistic size can be based on a background-fluctuation splitting and a systematic perturbative expansion in the fluctuating fields. The direct measurement of the cosmic-ray spectrum, up to the knee region, is one of the instrumental challenges for next generation space experiments. The main issue for these measurements is a steeply falling spectrum with increasing energy, so the physics performance of the space calorimeters are primarily determined by their geometrical acceptance and energy resolution. Mode-by-mode hydrodynamics: ideas and concepts / Floerchinger, Stefan (CERN)
The main ideas, technical concepts and perspectives for a mode resolved description of the hydrodynamical regime of relativistic heavy ion collisions are discussed. A background-fluctuation splitting and a Bessel-Fourier expansion for the fluctuating part of the hydrodynamical fields allows for a complete characterization of initial conditions, the fluid dynamical propagation of single modes, the study of interaction effects between modes, the determination of the associated particle spectra and the generalization of the whole program to event-by-event correlations and probability distributions..

The forward η mesons production has been observed by the Large Hadron Collider forward (LHCf) experiment in proton-proton collision at √s=13 TeV. This paper presents the measurement of the inclusive production rate of η in pT < 1.1 GeV/c, expressed as a function of the Feynman-x variable. [...]

Dark Nucleosynthesis: Cross-sections and Astrophysical Signals / Mahbubani, Rakhi (Hertfordshire U. ; CERN) ; Redi, Michele (INFN, Florence ; Florence U.) ; Tesi, Andrea (INFN, Florence ; Florence U.)
We investigate dark matter bound-state formation and its implication for indirect-detection experiments. We focus on the case where dark matter is a baryon of a strongly-coupled dark sector and provide generic formulae for the formation of shallow nuclear bound states on emission of photons, and W and Z gauge bosons. Fluid dynamic propagation of initial baryon number perturbations on a Bjorken flow background / Floerchinger, Stefan (CERN) ; Martinez, Mauricio (Ohio State U.)
Baryon number density perturbations offer a possible route to experimentally measure baryon number susceptibilities and heat conductivity of the quark gluon plasma. We study the fluid dynamical evolution of local and event-by-event fluctuations of baryon number density, flow velocity and energy density on top of a (generalized) Bjorken expansion. [...]
