Pixel chamber: a solid-state active-target for 3D imaging of charm and beauty / Mulliri, A (Cagliari U.) ; Arba, M (INFN, Cagliari) ; Bhattacharya, P (Cagliari U.) ; Casula, E (Cagliari U.) ; Cicalò, C (INFN, Cagliari) ; De Falco, A (Cagliari U.) ; Mager, M (CERN) ; Marras, D (INFN, Cagliari) ; Masoni, A (INFN, Cagliari) ; Musa, L (CERN) et al.
The aim of the pixel chamber project is to develop the first “solid-state bubble chamber” for high precision measurement of charm and beauty. In this paper we will describe the idea for the first silicon active target conceived as an ultra-high granular stack of hundreds of very thin monolithic active pixel sensors (MAPS), which provides continuous, high-resolution 3D tracking of all of the particles produced in proton-silicon interactions occurring inside the detector volume, including open charm and beauty. [...]

Pixel Chamber: A solid-state active-target for 3D imaging of charm and beauty / Mulliri, A (Cagliari U. ; INFN, Cagliari) ; Arba, M (INFN, Cagliari) ; Bhattacharya, P (Adamas Inst. Tech., Barasat) ; Bruno, G E (Bari Polytechnic) ; Casula, E (Cagliari U. ; INFN, Cagliari) ; Cicalò, C (INFN, Cagliari) ; Colamaria, F (Bari Polytechnic) ; Fionda, F (Cagliari U. ; INFN, Cagliari) ; De Falco, A (Cagliari U. ; INFN, Cagliari) ; Mager, M (CERN) et al.
The Pixel Chamber project purpose is the production of the first solid state active target capable of performing continuous, high-resolution (O(μm)) 3D tracking. The aim is to create a bubble chamber-like high-granularity stack of hundreds of very thin monolithic active pixel sensors (MAPS) glued together. [...]

Design of an analog monolithic pixel sensor prototype in TPSCo 65 nm CMOS imaging technology / Deng, W (Hua-Zhong Normal U. ; CERN) ; Aglieri Rinella, G (CERN) ; Aresti, M (Catania U. ; INFN, Catania) ; Baudot, J (Strasbourg, IPHC) ; Benotto, F (INFN, Turin ; Turin U.) ; Beole, S (INFN, Turin ; Turin U.) ; Bialas, W (CERN) ; Borghello, G (CERN) ; Bugiel, S (Strasbourg, IPHC) ; Campbell, M (CERN) et al.
A series of monolithic active pixel sensor prototypes (APTS chips) were manufactured in the TPSCo 65 nm CMOS imaging process in the framework of the CERN-EP R&D; on monolithic sensors and the ALICE ITS3 upgrade project. Each APTS chip contains a 4 × 4 pixel matrix with fast analog outputs buffered to individual pads. [...]

Monolithic Active Pixel Sensors (MAPS) offer the possibility to build pixel detectors and tracking layers with high spatial resolution and low material budget in commercial CMOS processes. Significant progress has been made in the field of MAPS in recent years, and they are now considered for the upgrades of the LHC experiments. [...]

3D detectors with high space and time resolution / Loi, Angelo (Cagliari U. ; INFN, Cagliari)
For future high luminosity LHC experiments it will be important to develop new detector systems with increased space and time resolution and also better radiation hardness in order to operate in high luminosity environment. A possible technology which could give such performances is 3D silicon detectors. [...]

The PPS tracking system: performance in LHC Run2 and prospects for LHC Run3 / Obertino, Margherita Maria (INFN, Turin ; Turin U.) /CMS Collaboration ; TOTEM Collaboration
The CT-PPS (CMS TOTEM Precision Proton Spectrometer, now PPS) system consists of tracking and timing detectors installed along the LHC beam line between 210 and 220 m from the interaction point on both sides of the CMS experiment. The aim of the apparatus is to measure with high precision the position, direction and time-of-flight of protons which emerge intact from the pp collision. [...]
