Ancient Shafts are recurring Items in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2]

Location and Uses

Breath of the Wild

Ancient Shafts can be found by defeating Guardians or within chests in Ancient Shrines. They are also sold by the travelling merchant Teli, who can be found on the path northwest of Hateno Village. Like other Ancient Materials, they were made 10,000 years ago to be used in the Ancient Technology of the Sheikah. They are made of a sturdy, yet unknown material.[1]

During the Side Quest "Slated for Upgrades", Link can give Purah three Ancient Shafts to upgrade his Remote Bombs Runes.[3] The Ancient Oven in the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab also requires Ancient Shafts to make certain pieces of Ancient Soldier Gear. They can be used to make Gray Dye at the Kochi Dye Shop or exchanged for Mon at the Fang and Bone.

Ancient Shafts are required to upgrade the following pieces of Armor at a Great Fairy Fountain.
