Discussion
[edit]- Comment manufacturer (P176) should suffice, no? Also wouldn't this be a property on individual bicycle models, not on the generic term? ArthurPSmith (talk) 16:48, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
- @ArthurPSmith: This is my first request to create a new item. It's easier for me to explain the essence in ordinary words. In the card of any cycling team (for example, WIT (Q608619), similar to UCI code of cycling team (P1998) ), you need to indicate which bicycles the team has performed during its history. It's like specifying a chassis and motor manufacturer for a Formula 1 team. — GAN (talk) 17:36, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose. You may use vehicle normally used (P3438). Thierry Caro (talk) 18:31, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
- Comment I think kit supplier (P5995) is probably the way to go here, with a qualifier applies to part, aspect, or form (P518) = bicycle (Q11442). Then the same pattern could be used for skis for skiers, tennis racquets for tennis players, engines for Formula 1 teams, etc. It looks like P5995 was originally intended specifically for the sportswear (Q645292) of a team or player, but I think it makes sense to broaden it to sporting equipment more generally, perhaps changing the property label to "equipment or kit supplier". There is also sponsor (P859), but that is less specific; and not all competitors in all sports have sponsored equipment. Jheald (talk) 11:46, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

- Comment I think Properties should be not to specific. I would create Items for the bycicle models. After they maybe have often new models I think it were good to create items for the seasons of a team. At the moment it is not so easy to work with Qualifiers at the adding if there are two statements with different qualifiers and by querying. So an advantage of a own property is that users without a deeper knowledge can query it. I dont know about the possibilities of modules. @GAN: can you please explain if the module works also if there is no specific property for that case. --Hogü-456 (talk) 19:28, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Hogü-456: A template for a cycling team based on the module was made just a few days ago. Therefore, up to this point, there was no need for this element. Command element Canyon//SRAM Racing (Q1757136) and its card through the fr:Équipe cycliste Canyon-SRAM Racing module. Everything except "Marques de cycles" is displayed in it through the module. — GAN (talk) 12:54, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose. For motor sports, I use vehicle normally used (P3438), Ex.:Q249447#P54. Why not for brand-model bicycle ?. Amadalvarez (talk) 08:49, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose I could discuss more if I am missing something but I do not see how this is different from other manufacturing. There are other existing properties named here which seem like they work. Of course I support the development of the data model, just with the existing properties until and unless there is more discussion to justify making a new one. I believe that it is clear from the discussion that there is no consensus on the proposed property, so I will end the discussion here. --Gymnicus (talk) 21:47, 9 July 2021 (UTC) |
