Discussion
- I do not believe location (P276) suffices here because is it too general. An earthquake item needs two localization-related properties: one for the epicenter (currently we use location (P276) for this) and another for the actual areas affected. 1755 Lisbon earthquake (Q191055), for instance, had its epicenter in Lisbon (Q597), but the areas affected extended all the way to England (Q21). I don't think location (P276) can convey that effectively. NMaia (talk) 09:48, 18 April 2018 (UTC)
- @NMaia: I think this could be challenging to use consistently, because the affected area will never perfectly match any other geographic item. Should 1906 San Francisco earthquake (Q211386) also affect every town within those three areas? Should it affect California (Q99), or even United States of America (Q30)? --99of9 (talk) 02:22, 1 May 2018 (UTC)

Support Epicenter of 2017 Iran–Iraq earthquake (Q43041167) is inside of Iran (Q794), but it was affected both Iran (Q794) and Iraq (Q796). 1960 Valdivia earthquake (Q212618) was affected whole Pacific Rim (Q9301187). 軽快 (talk) 16:23, 18 June 2018 (UTC)- Support agree about P276

- Support - Would be useful to be able to list Paramount Ranch, Mailbu Creek State Park, and Santa Monica Mountains Recreation Area as "areas affected" by the Woolsey Fire (Q58445227). I don't have any useful way to state this now. - PKM (talk) 21:56, 26 November 2018 (UTC)
