Google follows OpenAI with its own multimodal demo — meet Project Astra.

Here’s a quick look at the new multimodal AI project Google just announced that’s called Astra and how it can help you find misplaced glasses.

Note: this video was edited for length and clarity, but the original video was one single take.

So you’re telling me there’s a chance?

Last week Fujifilm released a limited edition of its popular X100VI camera. But Fujirumors.com cites scalpers who say they snagged 92 percent of the cameras, which only included 300 in the US.

But not all hope is lost! Fujifilm announced on Instagram that it intercepted "a large number of suspicious orders" and canceled them, so Fuji fans will get one more chance to get their hands on the LE X100VI via a raffle. More details to come soon.

Good luck getting one of Fujifilm’s limited-edition X100VI units.

From March 21st to March 23rd, 100 cameras will be sold daily on a first come, first served basis for $1,999. ($400 more than the regular X100VI).

It’s already plenty hard to buy the “regular” X100VI — it’ll be even harder when there’s only 300 of them.

GoPro is working on a ‘tech-enabled’ helmet.

ICYMI, in January 2024, GoPro announced plans to acquire Forcite — an Australian company that makes tech-enabled motorcycle helmets. Those helmets include features like communications, digital imaging, navigation, and safety alerts.

GoPro is aiming to close the acquisition by the end of this quarter and is expected to launch its first smart helmet in 2025, said Christopher Clark, GoPro’s VP of corporate communications, during a Q4 earnings call.

How the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 became my favorite gadget of the year.

And no, it’s not about the larger 1-inch CMOS sensors. DJI's Osmo Pocket 3 camera won me over with its cleverly designed screen, impressive boot up speed, simplicity and versatility. Of course, it also helps to have really good image quality.

GoPro is getting a new cloud subscription tier.

GoPro announced a new Premium Plus subscription during its quarterly earnings call Tuesday, while CFO Brian McGee teased three new cameras coming in 2024. The $99-a-year tier includes “increased cloud storage for any camera” plus a new Quik desktop app (on macOS this month, Windows next summer) with Hypersmooth Pro stabilization built-in.

What is HyperSmooth Pro? I have no clue. GoPro already has separate stabilization software called ReelSteady that’s popular with FPV pilots. Maybe it’s just a new name?

Some of my best drone footage so far.

OK, OK. I don’t want to brag. But the truth is that I was getting worried about how all my drone footage in my DJI Air 3 review was starting to become very one-dimensional.

Until one day, there was an intense passing storm, which resulted in some of the best clips I’ve ever gotten on a drone. Putting myself at risk for content every single day! Sort of.

Is drone innovation plateauing?

I was a little worried everyone would jump down my throat for this hot take, but I’ve been having a blast talking to other drone enthusiasts in the YouTube comments. Yes, YouTube comment section can sometimes be very productive.

Come hang! And tell me which drone you’re flying these days? Do you have a reason to upgrade?
