Brandi Ashby is an Assistant Chief for Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM). In this role, she ensures the administration of the state’s emergency management programs within the 30 counties of Region 8 (Central Texas and Brazos Valley). She works closely with her staff to ensure local governments are supported with technical assistance as needed for Preparedness, Mitigation, Response and Recovery activities.
Ashby started with TDEM in 2010 as a District Coordinator in Disaster District 20 Corpus Christi. While in District 20, she was involved in numerous events and declared disasters including the response and recovery to the severely impacted landfall counties in Hurricane Harvey in 2017. Additionally, she has been deployed to numerous incidents and events through the state as well as to New Jersey for Hurricane Sandy.
Ashby is a member of Texas Emergency Managers Association, International Association of Emergency Management and an original member of the Coastal Bend Emergency Managers Association and holds the designation of Certified Texas Emergency Manager. She completed her Associate of Science in Criminal Justice and BAAS in Emergency Management Administration from West Texas A&M University. She is working on her M.S. in Organizational Leadership from Columbia Southern University.
