Morocco was hit by a violent earthquake on the night of Friday 8 September 2023, touching many regions including Marrakesh and the surrounding mountain villages. So far, we know of more than 2,000 deaths, hundreds of injuries, and significant material damage.

Our thoughts are with people suffering in the region. But also with our Pluxee Morocco teams, and of course all our employees who have relatives in the country. We stand in solidarity and send them strength and courage. Sincere thanks to Sodexo colleagues who have already reached out to see how they can contribute. In response, Stop Hunger has initiated the following actions:

1. Emergency Aid: launch of a HelloAsso donation page in support of the Moroccan Food Bank, present since 2002 on the ground and on the front line to help those in need. 100% of the donations will be matched by Stop Hunger. Please feel free to share this page with your teams who are asking how they can contribute.  

2. Activation of the Stop Hunger Emergency Fund of €50,000: we will support amongst others, CARE Morocco, one of our partner ONGs with whom we share common values, including women empowerment and school feeding programmes.
