History of the Product

In the Philippines, chickens have been part of the culture and diet for centuries, dating
back to pre-colonial times. Early Filipinos domesticated native chickens, primarily for
cockfighting, a tradition that remains popular today. Chickens also held cultural
significance in rituals and community events.
When Spanish colonizers arrived in the 16th century, they introduced European breeds,
influencing the local chicken varieties and breeding practices. Chicken became an
important food source, and local dishes like adobo, tinola, and lechon manok (roast
chicken) emerged as staples.
In modern times, poultry farming has expanded significantly, with both backyard and
commercial farms supplying the growing demand for chicken meat. The Philippines now
has a mix of native and foreign breeds, supporting both cultural practices and a robust
poultry industry.

Where to sell and who to sell to

Chickens are to be sold to various markets in the area. Happy Hen Haven has targeted
the local markets of Antipolo, Rizal, where there is demand for fresh produce chicken
meat. Such markets serve various consumer groups, like households, food
establishments, and small businesses, making it an appropriate choice for free-range
chickens. The farm will be taking orders from market vendors, being opted either for
pick-up or delivery.
The products are sold directly to consumers, retail outlets, or wholesalers, with potential
contracts with grocery stores or restaurants. By targeting the local markets, the
business will ensure an efficient and well-informed customer base that would be
encouraged to support and purchase products from Happy Hen Haven.
