Q1a.ANS: The writer tells us how the tallest mountain peaks are at the
distance and how nature attracts us how the sun rises behind the trees
and how the mornings cool air fills with tweets and singing of birds…
The writer explains because of the minority of people living in the
mountains there is always peace. So analyzing this we can know that
the writer is creating a peaceful aspect of nature.
b. The good characters are Ruby and Praveen because they are nature
lovers but Toad, Stinger and Garjan Mankar (the film star) are bad
characters because they destroy peace in nature by the sound of
gunfire.

Q2. A) SUMMARY OF EXTRACT 1


Summary: It was a wonderful morning in the mountains Ruby and her
friend Praveen where walking then they found a campfire which was
still warm. They got warmed up and continued walking ,after some
time they heard a terrifying sound of a gunshot they continued to walk
higher and higher then they stumbled across a diverging path the took
cover of some ferns and saw the three men (Toad, Stinger and Garjan
Mankar) who shot in front of them was an injured leopard.
B: the tone changes from peaceful to intense after the line
“Praveen raises his finger to his lips. We tip toe onward. A smaller path
had been made through the trees off of the main path”.
C) The tone has a significant part in the interest of the readers. Tone
can make reader calm excited and also is used to gather attention of
reader.

SUMMARY OF EXTRACT 2
Summary: The leopard was being corner its paw was shot so it could
not run, Ruby was very worried the film star took his rifle and shot the
leopard instantly killing it the water collapses against a tree it’s too late
to save the leopard it falls on the ground and is now is dead, the men
examine the leopard then Ruby took a photo as evidence but forgot
about the flash…
Q4. i) VICTIM FIGURE: This means the character human or non-human
which is innocent and something unfair happens to him/her/it.
Eg: leopard in extract 1
ii) VILLAN FIGURE: A character who commits evil/crime and is hard-
hearted, unjust.
EG: Toad, Stinger and Garjan Mankar (the film star and his friends)
iii) THE LINK BETWEEN WRITER AND LEPORD: The link between the
leopard and writer is that the writer has vowed to protect the leopard.
iv) VOCABULARY SHOWING BEAUTY OF LEPOARD: Butiful coat, velvety
sheen black rosettes and long white tail all these word indicate beauty
of leopard.

SUMMARY OF EXTRACT 3
Summary: Ruby and Praveen try to escape but the men Toad and
Stinger grab them and then Toad grabs Ruby’s camera and smashes it
on a rock instantly shattering it and along it the memory card which had
pictures and evidence .Then Garjan Mankar started interrogating Ruby
and Praveen but then Ruby said that she was a wildlife photographer
then the three men became frustrated and just a mysterious shadow
falls amount them (SILHOUETTE).

SUMMARY OF EXTRACT 4
Summary: It was an old lady who was holding a gun she was fearless
she demanded the three men to let Ruby and Praveen go but they did
not free them the first time they thought the grandma couldn’t shoot
right but then she gave a warning shot and said that if they free them
then she will shoot them, then Garjan Mankar startled and fell
backwards he brushed off his jacket and said to Toad to leave Ruby and
Praveen , when they were not paying attention then Ruby secretly
picked up the memory card and stuffed it in her pocket after the three
men ran away she saw a cub fall it was caring for its mom then Ruby
took it and put it in her jacket.

“than".

ALLITRATION repetition of consonant sounds of nearby words in


a phrase or verse(in poem)
NON-FICTION It I s real information which could be on account of
events and facts.

SUMMARY OF EXTRACT 1
Summary: in this extract the narrator is telling us about his experience
about his Mongolian trip in which he had to go higher and higher until
he reached to his destination, the Kazakh tribe who live there they have
a deep bonding with animals, we think that the eagles the most
majestic bird of all time can’t be tamed due to their special nature but
the Kazakhs can tame these birds the eagle is so special due to its size,
large wingspan its sharp claws and beautiful coat, it builds its nests high
in the rocky mountains, it can weigh up to 7kg it is an excellent hunter
and can speed up to 180km per hour . I met a Kazakh family member
named Arman he showed me his eagle named Raban the eagle which
he tamed 8 years ago it was an impressive hooded eagle it had a
beautiful coat.

SUMMARY OF EXTRACT 2
Summary: the narrator was told about the importance of eagles in the
Kazakh tribe it’s hunting skills are used to kill prey for food of the
people, they are an important symbol as it is said to bring good luck to
the Kazakh tribe when the narrator asked Arman how he learned this
skill he told that in this tribe our families skills are passed down so I
learned from my father the steps are first you find a bird(female)
because they are more suitable for the tasks then they are trained
through the key of human voice it takes 2-3 months before an eagle is
ready for hunting after 10 years of service they are left in the wild
because they are noble and need freedom eventually.

Q4) 100 word paragraph on impression of eagle


In this extract the eagle is described as a ginormous bird .The eagle
makes its enormous nest in the hills on flat parts of the rocky hills, it
has a wing span of about two meters .An average eagle can weigh up to
7-8 kilograms .The speed of an eagle is about 180km per hour it is a
fearsome and perfect hunter. Tamed eagle are very obedient to their
owner it has sharp claws and has a fantastic coat it can also is capable
to hunt preys many times of its side they also can understand human
voice .It is released after ten years because they are very noble birds.

1) What impression of eagle does the writer give
Ans: the writer tells us how the eagle is tamed. Eagle are very loyal to
their owner .It has sharp claws and has fantastic fur it also is capable to
hunt preys. The writer is quite impressed with the eagle.
2) Identify techniques which poet Tennyson uses in his poem “the
eagle “
Ans: Tennyson uses techniques like personification, simile and
alliteration
Personification:
Personification is a figure of speech that is used to attribute human
characteristics to something that is not human. For example:
 The sea crawls
 The cloud roars
 The mountains weep
Simile:
A simile is a figure of speech that directly compares two things.
Similes differ from other metaphors by highlighting the similarities
between two things using comparison words such as "like", "as",
"so" or “than". For example:
 Like a thunder bolt he falls.
 As busy as a bee.
 As blind as a bat.
Alliteration:
Repetition of consonant sounds of nearby words in a phrase or
verse (in poem) .For example:

3) Write a paragraph explaining effects of figurative language in
the poem. What are impact of these techniques on the reader?
Ans: The writers use figurative language to embellish the
language. Using figurative language makes the reader interested
and is used to highlight the poetic effect and maintain flow it
makes the poem attractive and fun to read while still give
information on that specific topic it is very useful it use
reputation, personification metaphor and even similes all of these
are in figurative language.

Q2) a. what do the poet mean when he writes birds
who foolishly drift with the current?
Ans: It refers to the birds who foolishly fly/swim in the cool waves of air
or water without being in flocks and not being attentive for their
predators.

b) How do you think the web of spider indicates “The


business of men”?
Ans: Spider’s web indicates the business of men because men start
business (shops, supermarket, stores ETC) and then they advertise it to
gather its target audience .Like that a spider also lays it trap (web) and
then patently waits for its prey.

c) How do you interpret the final line? What impression it


has on the narrator feelings?
Ans: The narrator is extremely sad because the animals do not have an
understanding of the hunting they do but humans have the
understanding but still continue to do such acts. The narrator is sad for
how the whole Earth tries to get what it wants without showing others
mercy.

Ans: The effect of nature on humans are such that it heals people
through its peaceful state. It heal different diseases like asthma.

B. Explain the viewpoints of the narrator.


Ans: The writer was suffering asthma for a long time so he moved
to the nature due to the fresh air low crowds and its quietness
gave him inner peace and due to the fresh air his asthma
improved.
C. Explain the purpose of each poem-what is poet
trying to tell us the readers?
Ans: the poet is trying to tell us that nature can be aggressive but
is beautiful it helps us heal and give us peace it depnds on which
aspect you look at nature we should know that nature is the real
medicen and should understand the aspects of nature.
