Admission to the MBA & MBA-IB Programs shall be made through CAT. Eligibility
criteria defined under CAT shall be deemed as applicable provided candidates belonging
to categories other than SC / ST have secured a minimum of 50% marks at the
qualifying examination. For SC/ST candidates, at least 45% marks are required.
Notes:
ii) In order to be eligible for admission the candidate must have secured a minimum
of 50% marks in aggregate at the qualifying examination as given above under
(a), (b) or (c) as the case may be. For SC/ST candidates, at least 45% marks
are required.
iv) If such a candidate is offered provisional admission, he/she must submit the
proof of acquiring minimum eligibility criteria i.e., Mark-sheet of the qualifying
examination by October 05 of the year of admission.

2. INTAKE AND RESERVATIONS
The total intake in the MBA & MBA-IB Programs shall be 59 each and there shall be
reservation for the following categories as per University / Government of India Rules:
SC Candidates 15 % of the intake
ST Candidates 7.5% of the intake
PC Candidates 5% of the intake (on horizontal reservation basis)
NC-OBC Candidates 27% of the intake
Economically Weaker Sections 10% of the Intake
(a) The Category to which the applicant belongs once mentioned on the Application
Form will be final and no subsequent change will be allowed. If boxes requiring
indication of category on the application form are left blank, the candidate will be
treated under “General Category’.
(b) The candidates seeking admission under the above categories must fulfill the
minimum eligibility criteria and qualifying requirements.
(c) The SC/ ST candidates must enclose attested copy of the caste certificate along
with their Application Form stating that the candidate belongs to SC/ST.
Candidates claiming admission under NC-OBC Category must submit the latest
NC-OBC certificate (not older than 6 months) as per University rule.
The following are empowered to issue SC/ST/NC-OBC Certificates:
(I) District magistrate/ Additional District Magistrate/ Collector/ Deputy
Commissioner/ Addl. Deputy Commissioner/Deputy Collector /Ist Class
Stipendiary Magistrate/City Magistrate/Sub Divisional magistrate/ Taluka
Magistrate/ Executive Magistrate /Extra Assistant Commissioner.
(ii) Chief Presidency Magistrate/ Addl. Chief Presidency Magistrate/ Presidency
Magistrate.
(iii) Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar.
(iv) Sub-Divisional Officer of the area where the candidate and/or his family normally
resides.
(v) Administrator/Secretary to the Administrator/ Development Officer (Lakshadweep
Islands).
(vi) Candidate must note that the certificate from any other person/authority shall not
be accepted in any case.
Note: The caste in the OBC certificate will be those only which are in the list of Central Govt.
Further the OBC certificate should clearly mention that the candidate is not under creamy
layer. However, if an OBC candidate seeks admission under some other category (for
example: PWD etc.) the candidate should satisfy the minimum eligibility requirement for
that category.
(d) 5% seats shall be reserved for Physically Challenged Candidates: (a) blindness
and low vision; (1%) + (b) deaf and hard of hearing; (1%) + (c) locomotor disability
including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular
dystrophy; (1%) + (d) autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability and mental
illness; (1%) + (e) multiple disabilities from amongst persons under clauses (a) to (d)
including deaf-blindness in the posts identified for each disabilities: (1%) (on horizontal
reservation basis). Such candidates will have to submit a self attested copy of the
Disability Certificate issued by the District CMO with the Application Form. The
candidates called for Counseling for possible provisional admission will be
examined by a Medical Board constituted by BHU and if necessary, will be
referred by the Medical Board to other recognized bodies for the purpose, as per
criteria fixed by the University. The decision of the Medical Board constituted by
BHU will be final. The Entrance Test for Blind candidates will be held at Varanasi
Centre only.
(e) Separate final merit list shall be prepared for the candidates under each of the
above categories, taking into consideration combined merit of CAT Score,
Academic Score, Group Discussion & Interview.

(f) Vacant seats reserved for SC/ST candidates, if any, may be filled up as per Govt.
of India rules.
(g) Economically Weaker Sections (EWSs): In accordance with O.M.F.No.12-
4/2020-U1 dated 17th January 2020 of the Department of Higher Education,
MHRD, Government of India, reservation for Economically Weaker Sections shall
be provided in admission.
3. SUPERNUMERARY ADMISSIONS
I. Admission Under Paid Seats Scheme:
Seats: 15% of the intake.
i) Admission under paid seats will be made after completion of regular seat
admissions.
iii) The candidates will be required to pay annual Paid Seat fee of Rs.
1,50,000/- through Demand Draft (in favour of the Registrar, Banaras Hindu
University, payable at Varanasi) OR Online payment link to be provided at
the time of provisional admission.
Please note that the Admit Card will be issued only after the remittance of
the Paid Seat fee of Rs. 1,50,000/-.
Second installment of Rs. 1,50,000/- through Demand Draft (in favour of the
Registrar, Banaras Hindu University, payable at Varanasi) will have to be
paid before commencement of third semester classes, failing which the
student will not be registered as a regular student in the third semester
classes.
iv) In addition to the above fee, such candidates are also required to pay a
regular fee (as detailed under Point 5 at Page 7) in cash / through Credit /
Debit Card at the Fee Counter of the University.
v) The Demand Draft of Rs. 1,50,000/- will have to be deposited in the
Institute at the time of provisional admission.
II. Admission of Foreign Nationals to MBA and MBA-IB Program (details given
at point no. 8 at page no. 8 & 9)
III. Any other category eligible for admission as per Central Govt. regulations as on
the last date of submission of admission application form will also be applicable.
4. ADMISSION PROCEDURE
I. Admission to the MBA and MBA IB Programs of the Institute will be made on the
basis of combined merit of the candidates in CAT conducted by IIM (50%),
Academic Records (20%) and Group Discussion & Personal Interview (30%).
Instructions for filling of academic records while submitting admission application
form:
Candidates are required to enter aggregate obtained marks and maximum marks
mentioned in the final semester mark-sheet (cumulative of all semesters) on the
space provided in the Application form (for X, XII & qualifying examination).
In case, the maximum marks and aggregate obtained marks are not mentioned
in the mark-sheet, marks obtained by the candidate in all subjects appeared will
be considered (as mentioned in the mark-sheet).
In case of marks being given in CGPA, OGPA, letter grade, etc. it is required to
submit the conversion formula at the time of appearing for Group Discussion and
Interview.
Note: In case the candidate is appearing in the qualifying examination, the percentage score of two years /
three years as the case may be, (ignoring /excluding the final year score) shall be taken for calculating
the candidate’s academic records in the qualifying examination.

II. Admission Test - CAT 2022 of Indian Institute of Management
Candidates interested in taking admission to MBA and MBA IB Course at Institute of
Management Studies, BHU are required to appear in Common Admission Test
(CAT) conducted by Indian Institute of Management for the corresponding year.
50% weightage will be given to the CAT Score while calculating the merit for
admission to the above Programs.
Registration for CAT 2022 is open from August 3, 2022 to September 21, 2022.
For details, please refer CAT 2022 Web Site. Candidates are also required to
apply separately for admission to MBA / MBA IB programs of the Institute of
Management Studies, Banaras Hindu University through University
Admission Portal (www.bhuonline.in) on or before the specified last date for
the purpose.
The IM, BHU shall use CAT Score for short-listing candidates for admissions to its
Management Programs. IIMs have no role either in the selection process or in the conduct
of the program.
i) Photo identity proof (Aadhaar Card / PAN) with a self attested copy of the
respective document)
iii) Self attested copies of Mark-sheets of Class X, Class XII and qualifying
examination (year wise Mark-sheets).
iv) Appearing Certificate from the Head of the Institution in case, the candidate
is appearing in the qualifying examination.
v) Self attested copy of Caste Certificate (in case of SC/ ST/ NC OBC). Income
certificate for candidates belonging to EWSs.
vi) Self attested copy of disability certificate (in case of Divyang candidates)

IV. Admission Counselling:
1. Candidates will be called for counseling for provisional admission in order of their
combined merit in CAT 2022, Academic Record and Group Discussion &
Interview.
2. Mere appearance in the CAT, Group Discussion and Interview shall not entitle a
candidate to be considered for admission to the course unless he/she fulfills the
eligibility conditions. Applicants must fully satisfy themselves about their
eligibility before filling the application forms of both, IIM – CAT and Institute of
Management Studies, BHU.
3. In case there is more than one candidate securing equal ranks as obtained by
the last candidate in order of merit in the list of candidates to be called for
admission, the following inter-se ranking rules of the University shall be
applicable.
“In case the candidates have equal ranks then:
a. the candidate having secured higher marks in the qualifying examination
is eligible;
b. In case the mark in the qualifying examination is also equal then the
candidate senior in age shall be given preference”.
4. While coming for counseling for provisional admission, candidates are required to
bring with them all the original documents (certificates, Mark-sheets including
Caste Certificate, Migration Certificate by non-BHU candidates / Transfer
Certificates by BHU candidates etc.) In case provisional admission is offered to
a candidate, all his/her original documents will be detained in the Institute and the
same will be returned after completion of admission formalities.
5. The mark-sheet of the qualifying examination of a candidate can be submitted on
or before 5th October of the year of admission and no extension shall be given in
this regard on any ground. Confidential results/mark-sheets shall not be
accepted. Only the original Mark-sheet of the qualifying examination after the
official declaration of the results by the respective examining bodies shall be
accepted. Any other document (sealed or confidential mark-sheet) other
than a proper mark-sheet issued by the authority like VC/Rector/ PVC/
Registrar/ CE etc. in regard to marks obtained by a candidate shall not be
entertained under any circumstances.
6. Provisional admission to a particular program will depend upon the combined
merit in CAT 2022, Academic Records and Group Discussion & Interview and
the availability of seat in that program on the date and time of counseling. The
mere fact that the call letter has been issued shall not entitle a candidate to claim
admission.

10. Provisional admission of a candidate is liable to be cancelled by the Admission
Committee at any time:
(i) if it is detected that there is something against the candidate which would
have prevented him/her from being admitted to the course
(ii) If the candidate is found at a later stage to have provided any false
information, and /or
(iii) if he/she has been punished for an act of gross misconduct, indiscipline
or an act involving moral turpitude.
11. A candidate provisionally selected for admission shall be required to fill the
prescribed form, submit the required documents, collect his/her admit card for
admission to the course from the office of the Department and pay fees by a date
fixed for the purpose, otherwise the offer made to him/her will automatically stand
cancelled and the seat thus falling vacant shall be offered to the next candidate
in order of merit under the specified category.
12. Waitlisted candidates shall be offered admissions strictly on the basis of ranking
provided there is a vacancy in the Program. Such waitlisted candidates shall
have to deposit their fee latest by the date fixed by the Admission Committee.
5. FEE STRUCTURE
The above fee is to be paid in cash or by using Credit / Debit Card transfer at the Fee
Counter.
(ii) Candidates are advised to keep sufficient number of extra copies of the same
photograph, which has been pasted on the application form for future use, as and
when needed.
(iii) The Category to which an applicant belongs once mentioned on the Application
Form will be final and no subsequent change will be allowed.

(iv) Applications of candidates who have submitted forged / fake certificates /
documents or adopted fraudulent means shall be rejected without any intimation
to the candidates. Further, such candidates shall be debarred from appearing in
any subsequent entrance test conducted by B.H.U.
(v) Any related legal litigation in respect of the admission shall be subject to the
jurisdiction of the local court of Varanasi and/or Hon’ble High Court of Judicature
at Allahabad only.
7. COURSE CURRICULUM
Course curriculum for both Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of
International Business Administration (MBA IB) has been specially designed after taking into
consideration the needs of the corporate world. Learning is made interactive through lectures,
seminars, role-plays, simulated games, group assignments, video sessions, multimedia
presentations, laboratory exercises, case analysis and business games with an emphasis on
industry-sponsored live projects. The emphasis is on learning the applications of concepts
rather than just a theoretical understanding. The curriculum is upgraded every alternate year to
cater to the dynamic business environment. The University follows Choice Based Credit
System.
(Candidates under NRI –Non Resident Indian – and PIO – Person of Indian Origin – will be
considered for admission under this category as per University rule).
Eligibility:
Foreign Nationals are required to produce a valid GMAT Score besides having equivalent
basic eligibility as stated at point (1) Page 2 above.
All the application forms may be submitted in the office of the International Students Advisor,
International Students Centre, BHU for processing for their admission. The International
Students’ Advisor, with the help of the Admission Committee constituted to look after the
admission work of the foreign nationals shall examine the eligibility of each applicant to the
course and also the equivalence of the qualifying examination passed by the candidate.
The International Students Adviser shall issue the eligibility letter to the concerned foreign
nationals if they are found eligible. If there is any problem regarding equivalence of the
qualifying examination passed by the candidates, the same may be referred to the Equivalence
Committee constituted for foreign nationals. The last date of admission in this category will be
announced by the International Students Advisor. Foreign national candidates are exempted
from appearing in Written Test (CAT), Group discussion and Interview.

Foreign National candidates are required to fulfill the following conditions:
(i) All the Foreign Nationals should submit their application, along with the processing
charges.
(ii) The applications of scholarship-holding Foreign Nationals (under various schemes)
required to be routed through the Indian Council for Cultural Relations / Ministry of
Human Resource Development (Department of Education), Govt. of India, New
Delhi.
(iii) They hold a valid foreign passport.
(iv) That they have adequate knowledge of English and/or Hindi as per the
requirements of the Course.
b) At the time of admission:
(i) They have valid Residential permit in India granted for studies / student visa for the
prescribed duration of the concerned Course.
(ii) They fulfill the minimum eligibility requirements.
c) General:
(i) The Degree/certificates of the candidates have been recognized and approved by
the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)/Commonwealth Universities/
International Association of Universities (IAU) as equivalent to the corresponding
Indian degrees/certificates.
(ii) All the eligible Foreign Nationals are required to fill up the Registration Form
prescribed by the University at the time of admission.
(iii) The applicant should have completed 17 years of age and there is no maximum
age limit for Foreign Nationals.
(iv) The Inter-se merit among the applicants of various Foreign Nationals shall be
decided by the “Core Committee for Admissions of Foreign Nationals”, which shall
be deemed as final.
