REFLECTION PAPER

The Invention of Lying movie is a truly funny and wise that nobody can actually lie about anything, they
don't even know about the word as its not invented yet. One of the main characters in the movie named
Mark Bellison, a loser about to lose his job as a screenwriter in a company, Lecture Films. Also, there’s
one perfect and beautiful girl named Anna and she was the lifelong crush of the loser, Mark. But Anna
doesn’t want a fat and snub-nosed loser as her husband. The landlord asked Mark to pay his rent worth
$800 and he is about to get thrown out of his apartment for his inability to pay because he
said that he only has a $300 in his bank account. He went to bank quickly to withdraw all of his
cash and also to close his account, but the computer has a technical error, so the bank teller
asked him how much he has to withdraw, at this moment Mark invents the art of lying. He is the
first person ever to lie because he asks for $800 instead $300 and suddenly the system back on, but the
lady said that there must be a mistake so she gave him an $800. It’s as easy as drinking water to him and
everybody believes whatever he says. That is the part of the movie that lie was invented. At the end of
the movie, because of his new-found power, he says his old company and becomes rich and
famous. He gets his girl, finally, and marries her.

In connection to our last topic or the question “why do people lie?” Mark lies on purpose because he
thinks it matters, he tried to relieve that pressure by saying something that will make the situation work.
The moral lesson I learned in the whole movie is that we should not look only at the outward
appearance, but we should learn to feel the feelings of others, don’t just say bad things that may offend
or hurt someone, even though it is a joke for you, think before you speak. We should learn to appreciate
things, then always remain being humble, grateful and love. Moreover, ‘til there’s life, there’s is hope.
Never think about being a failure, because God made himself a sacrifice to save humanity. Live your life
as it goes. Live every moment. Enjoy the most out of it. As the maxim goes, no one should be unjustly
enriched at the expense of another. We live to serve a purpose on earth, we should live according to the
principles of life without hate, with love and compassion and without aggravating others.
