Ethernet Port
As seen in Illustration 2, the Ethernet connection of the VIMS connects to a standard TCP/IP network typically through an external
wireless networking device. For troubleshooting purposes, the Ethernet port can be connected directly to a router or a PC using
appropriate cables.

Note: Connecting two Ethernet devices without a router or hub will require a direct connection or a cross over cable.

Service Port
The Communicator connects to the VIMS service port RS232 via the following pins on the 12-pin Deutsch connector: pin 6, pin 7 and
pin 8. Refer to Illustration 2.

Telemetry Port
The Communicator connects to VIMS on board RS232 telemetry port via the following pins on the 12-pin Deutsch connector: pin 3, pin
4 and pin 5.

Refer to Illustration 2.

Display Port
The Communicator has a special RS232 connection for use with the remote Scoreboard weight indicator. Refer to the following pins on
the Deutsch connector in Illustration 2 pin 9 and pin 10. This connection is not buffered. Additionally, this connection does allow for 2-
way communications with VIMS. This connection should only be used with a remote scoreboard.

Buffered Telemetry Port 1

Buffered Telemetry Port 1 is a 5-pin Cannon MS connector that provides RS232 communication to any device that is designed to plug
directly into the VIMS onboard telemetry port. By shorting pin A to pin E on this connector, the device can restore factory defaults
and/or be put in flash mode in order to receive a new operation system. For additional information, refer to Systems Operation,
KENR8253, "Buffered Telemetry Splitter".
Buffered Telemetry Port 2
Buffered Telemetry Port 2 is a 3-pin Deutsch connector that provides RS232 communications to any device that is designed to plug
directly into the VIMS onboard telemetry port. For additional information, refer to Systems Operation, KENR8253, "Buffered Telemetry
Splitter".

Service Port Computer Connection

The following pins on the 12-pin Deutsch connector allow for a computer that is running VIMS PC or equivalent to communicate to the
VIMS onboard service port: pin 10, pin 11 and pin 12. Refer to Illustration 2. When the communicator senses that an RS232 device has
been plugged into this port, it immediately initiates a disconnect sequence with VIMS. The communicator then passes all
communications between this port and the VIMS service port.
