The Fall of Babylon Babylon

Among the numerous biblical prophecies that are known, one of those that is least taught or preached is the fall of Babylon. This may be happening because most biblical teachers are ignorant of it, or may be uncertain as to how or when this shall take place. Babylon that was a great ancient Empire in biblical times came to an abrupt end in 539 BC when the Jews and Daniel were still in it. On that night, the mysterious hand of God wrote on the wall in the presence of the king and all the lords and governors, spelling doom. It happened as written. That very night, the Medes and Persians invaded and took over power and the Empire became Medo-Persian. But the fall of Babylon spoken of in Revelation 17-19 has nothing to do with the former empire that had ceased existing more than five centuries earlier. This prophecy that was pointing to the future was to relate to a religious kingdom that was to share in several attributes of the former in idol worship, sin, pride, luxury, and also to experience a sudden end. God knew how powerful and influential it was going to be over humanity and the long duration it had to occupy the religious space in a global manner. But God pronounced an abrupt end for this new Babylon just as the former crashed in one day without much effort. What then is this Babylon in clear terms? It is that political and religious organization that identifies itself with Christianity, but which God does not consider as a part of His church. It is also sometimes referred to by Jesus as the Synagogue of Satan. Babylon is contrasted to Zion just as the image of the prostitute is contrasted to that of the virgin; which is the church of God. The abolition of Christian persecution by Emperor Constantine in the year 312 saw the world flooding the church while true Christianity fled. Under political leadership, the world took over the church and what obtained was everything except Christianity. The idol deities in paganism now found a new sanctuary in the church under Christian names and church leaders also became political leaders. So rapid was the moral and spiritual fall that the institution became nothing but a manifestation of sin and pomp. Under it, many of those who stood for the truth as revealed in the scriptures were executed. Human pride, luxury, superstition, and the sexual sins of the flesh were abundantly practiced and have been abundant throughout the existence of this institution. In recent times, sex scandals have been rocking this Roman Catholic organization. But this has been a prime characteristic all through their existence. Martin Luther wrote a 95 points thesis against the doctrines and practices of the Roman Catholic Church which misrepresented itself as Christian. If you had to bring back Luther back to life and asked him if he thought things had got better since then, the reply you would get is obvious. We can all see that things have worsened. From 95 points in Luthers days, more than 9500 could be written today. Not only has sexual sins multiplied, taking more aggravated forms, but pomp and luxury have increased and got well established. We see what the Bible calls the great prostitute who sits on many waters, with whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication as world leaders alongside government delegations stream to her headquarters to celebrate high masses. They also influence the political decisions of several nations on the planet.

Aggravated dogma practice has been a formal mode of operation as unfounded doctrines are devised and enforced. One of such aggravated dogmas is the doctrine of the Assumption of Mary which teaches that Mary ascended to heaven body and soul without dying physically. This doctrine is both unbiblical and anti biblical because it makes Mary superior to Jesus and is a pure lie. This giving of deity status to Mary has caused idolatry as people pray to her and sing praises to her as if she were God. These are examples of images of blasphemy with which the Bible finds no point of compromise. The sinful acts of this institution shall continue to aggravate as it shall call on the world to follow and adhere to the demands of the beast, including receiving his mark and number. It shall be at this time that God shall bring about its end by causing the beast to make her desolate and burn her up. For 17 centuries now, this sinful institution that the Bible describes as MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH has dominated the religious sphere, giving the false impression to the world that it represents God. But God has fixed a specific time of judgment for her. The fall of Babylon shall be one of the last major events before the rapture of the church. It shall take place during the first phase of the tribulation period when the anti Christ shall be in power. In Rev.19:19, the fall of Babylon opens the marriage of the Lamb, which we know shall be the rapture of the church. God shall have to terminate the existence of the harlot before identifying with the Bride. We remember that the anti Christ shall be anti religious. Although the religious leader of Babylon shall call on the world to adhere to the demands of the political anti Christ, this shall not prevent his institution from experiencing its demise. The political confederation of Europe shall bring the end of Babylon. As the Bible puts it this way, And the ten horns which you saw on the beast, these will hate the harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire. For God has put in their hearts to fulfil His purpose... (Rev 17:16, 17). This seems to me like a confiscation of property, a freezing of accounts, and a destruction of its headquarters with fire. As these judgments commence, God sends an angel (messenger) in Rev. 18:1 to call His people to come out of the organization. The massage of the angel is reinforced by the voice of the Holy Spirit to them, Come out of her, My people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive her plagues. God shall be speaking to Catholics in a particular manner, making most to come out of the system and embrace true salvation. Many shall heed the call and identify themselves with the people of God. To the Philadelphian church existing at that time, Jesus says, Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie. Indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you (Rev.3:9). The fall of Babylon shall be sudden and complete. Describing the fall, the Bible says, Then a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence the great city Babylon shall be thrown down, and shall not be found anymore (Rev. 18:21). This organization shall thus completely, absolutely and permanently come to an end, and the time for this to happen is not long from now. This document is an extract from the book, Zion Vision of Today. It is important for every Christian to read it and get acquainted with the things that shall be happening in our day, both in the church and in the world.
