4G is another name for LTE-A, LTE-Advanced and it's a faster version of 3G. It works through carrier aggregation, which allows 4G phones to receive data from multiple bands in the 4G spectrum.
To use 4G you will need to have a “4G Compatible” device as well as a specific sim card called the “4G SIM” also called the “USIM” (Universal Sim Card). The fortunate thing is Orange started rolling out this compatible sim card in 2014, years before the launch of the new technology, so most of the Orange base has a compatible sim card.
If your sim card was purchased before 2014, please visit the nearest Orange shop to upgrade your simcard for no additional cost.
Is there coverage everywhere?
Orange Sierra Leone has progressively deployed 4G. This will allow customers to experience better streaming, faster downloads, quicker browsing as well as quicker sending and receiving of big files.
Where 4G coverage is not available you will experience a seamless connection to 3G+ and 2G.
