🌍 Today at #COP29, the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub joined the High-Level State Party Event, “Cutting Carbon, Adapting Food Systems, and Restoring Nature on the Path to 1.5⁰C.” Hosted by the Governments of Denmark and Ethiopia, along with the COP28 and COP29 Presidencies, this event convened global leaders and the FAO Director-General to explore strategies for accelerating #FoodSystems transformation to support climate goals. The event built upon the UAE Declaration on Sustainable Agriculture, Resilient Food Systems, and Climate Action which highlights agriculture's essential role in achieving the #ParisAgreement’s goals. Leaders called for transformative change, affirming that agriculture and food systems must urgently adapt to the demands of climate change. To support these efforts, the Hub launched the Food Systems Climate Action Convergence Initiative at #COP28. Designed to maximize synergies between food systems transformation and climate action, the initiative supports countries to build climate-smart, inclusive, and sustainable food systems. With convergence initiatives underway in Kazakhstan, Brazil, and Indonesia, and upcoming pilots in Kenya, Ethiopia, Turkey, and Jordan, we are on track to reach 20 countries by #COP30.
