The Club MDW is Now Open! We are thrilled to announce the official opening of The Club MDW, Midway International Airport’s first-ever airport lounge in its 95-year history! Yesterday’s ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the culmination of months of dedication and teamwork, and we are proud to have served as the Project Manager and Owners Representative for this historic milestone. From the very start in January 2024, JWI worked closely with the local MBE design team Fujikawa Johnson Gobel (FJG) to ensure the lounge’s vision was fully realized. JWI’s proactive approach, close and consistent monitoring of construction progress, and attention to detail helped facilitate a quality installation that was on time and on budget. Our strong relationships with contractors and airport personnel helped navigate challenges and minimize impacts. With a thorough understanding of the project scope, construction process, and project schedule, we were able to navigate through change management and pay application reviews, ensuring Airport Dimensions valuable resources were maintained. As we continue celebrating our 25th anniversary, we dusted off some old files to share our 25th project ever completed — Southwest Gate Enhancements! Beginning in 2007, JWI partnered with Southwest Airlines to transform their boarding process from the familiar first-come, first-serve system to a streamlined assigned number position within 3 boarding groups. Our efforts spanned across 7 Midwest cities, ensuring a smooth, efficient rollout of the new boarding procedures. Key Project Highlights: - Phase 1 (Late 2007): JWI surveyed the existing gates and setups and implemented moveable stanchion poles for new boarding lanes. - Phase 2 (2008): We installed permanent stainless steel numbered pylons with digital signage, relocated select gate counters, and added premium seating options, along with family-friendly areas with TV programming, business seats, charging tables, and other amenities. Our work spanned across St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Omaha, Kansas City, Columbus, Cleveland, and Chicago Midway, ensuring seamless coordination with contractors, airports, and the FAA to integrate satellite equipment and digital feeds. The final touches in 2008 provided a modern, efficient boarding experience, which continues to serve Southwest's passengers and staff effectively today. We look forward to seeing how Southwest innovates their boarding process in the future. It's time to go behind the scenes at O'Hare International Airport! Our marketing team recently had the opportunity to visit two key job sites at O’Hare International Airport and witness our impactful projects in action: Fuel Farm: The team explored the Fuel System Improvement Projects (FSIP), which involve upgrading the existing fuel system to meet current EPA standards and incorporate new technologies. JWI is proud to provide program management services for all projects outlined in the Fuel System Master Plan, where we also served as the Program Manager. ORD 21 Program: We delved into the O’Hare 21 Program, where JWI plays a crucial role in the City’s Program Management Team. Our work includes modernizing terminals, roadway and taxiway systems, and support facilities for the Terminal Area Plan (TAP), while also supporting the ongoing Capital Improvement Program (CIP). Our specialized team excels in Construction Management, Quality Assurance, Cost Management, and more. We’re excited to share some incredible photos from our site visits and showcase the impressive work of our dedicated staff. Another unforgettable WINGS Retreat is in the books! Nearly fifty incredible women gathered at our “Wisconsin Office” for an inspiring weekend full of workshops, delicious food, and celebrations that lasted until sunset. JWI has been awarded the prime contract for PSB 24-2, Item 4, where we will be providing Construction Management services for plaza improvements on the Tri-State Tollway (I-294). We have also secured subconsultant roles for Items 1, 2, and 5, where we will be performing everything from Phase I and II Engineering services to Construction Management.
