Our team is thrilled to announce the successful completion of the O’Hare International Airport Terminal 2 Rotunda replacement of 10 AHU’s. This project was executed in collaboration with the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) - O'Hare & Midway International Airports The project is a renovation of 50,000 square feet which includes demolition and replacement of the existing air handling units, exhaust fans, ductwork, hydronic piping (HTW, LTW & CHW), HTW-LTW heat exchangers, hydronic pumps for chilled and low temp water, zone-based VAVs, temperature controls, Variable Frequency Drives, and 480v motor control center. Construction included temporary heating, cooling, supply, return, and exhaust air during each phase of the project in coordination with the airport staff and vendors to maintain the temperature requirements of facilities and tenants. The new air handling units, exhaust fans, and hydronic pumps are variable speed motors, including new parallel BAS network controls fully integrated into the existing network. Each of the 10 air handling units had a new chilled water and low-temperature hydronic piping system to feed the coils. Apart from construction of the new HVAC system, the project included functional testing of the BAS, testing & balancing, and full system commissioning in direct coordination with the facility's existing system & operations. Project Completion | HHS Backfill Project   Accel Construction Services Group, LLC, is pleased to successfully complete the HHS Backfill project with the GSA for the Department Health and Human Services.   The project is an office buildout which includes renovating existing finished space including 26,500 square feet in the John C. Kluczynski Federal Building on floors 31 and 33; and 21,000 square feet in the Ralph H. Metcalfe Federal Building on floor 21. The scope of work included complete demolition of existing partitions, ceilings, demountable partition systems, casework, MEP, and some remaining furniture. Some existing lighting was salvaged for reinstallation. Work also included asbestos abatement of carpet mastic and ductwork sealant.   New construction included new gypsum board demising partitions; demountable glazed partition systems; folding walls; acoustical ceilings; aluminum storefront entries; casework; wet pantry areas with sinks and appliances; complete mechanical, electrical, AV, plumbing, and fire protection systems throughout the spaces; as well as infrastructure for owner provided security systems. Tom has 6 years of experience in construction having worked on diverse projects: multifamily, medical facilities, historical renovation, and sports & entertainment venues. After graduating, Tom resided in Nashville for two and a half years before returning to his hometown of Chicago amidst the Covid pandemic. His interests include hockey, rugby, and pickleball, along with indulging in television entertainment. Additionally, he shares his life with Busya, his one-year-old Yorkie. We are thrilled to introduce the newest member of our Accel Construction crew, Shivam M. as a Project Engineer.   As a recent graduate of Purdue with a Master’s in Construction Management Technology, Shivam is bringing fresh insights to the Accel team.   Prior to joining us, Shivam gained valuable experience as an architect, having worked on diverse projects including commercial ventures and luxurious bungalows in India.   Outside of work, he is an avid movie watcher, and living for the adrenaline rush of Formula 1.
