How many fathers and sons can claim that distinction? Marty Mincey and his son, Blake, know what it feels like to hoist a championship trophy on a baseball diamond, accomplishing this feat exactly 30 years apart.

Marty Mincey relived his own history as he watched Blake play first base for North Lincoln High School during its run to the NCHSAA 3A title in late May at Ting Stadium in Holly Springs. In 1995, Marty played on a Lincolnton High School team that captured the 2A crown at Mudcat Stadium in Zebulon, about 40 miles away.
