Angela and the children have a short and chaotic detour through a funfair before they end up in Rome. They find shelter on a houseboat owned by a former opera star. A meeting is arranged with Angela's ex-husband.

Lino, Angela's estranged husband, takes the trio of runaways to his father's estate. The men in pursuit will not bargain with anyone. The chase is on again.

Kim, the man who the children's mother was to have met, rescues the runaways. He takes them to a forgotten town in the mountains run by a religious society.

Angela, Kim and the children are safe in the monastery, until the hired killers figure out where they are hiding.
