This game impresses in every aspect of it. A true masterpiece. Perfectly balanced combat, amazing pacing, bold storytelling, jaw dropping graphics… I could keep on saying good things about this game for a while, but in conclusion: The Last Of Us Part II is a bold game, that will force you to go through a rollercoaster of emotions in the most polished, dramatic and sculptured way.
Not too much to say about Resident Evil 4 (2023), basically this is the closest Capcom got to fully master the modern Resident Evil games formula. It’s satisfying in every aspect.
Alan Wake II is definitely my biggest surprise of the year! And don’t get me wrong, I expected that this game would be amazing and that would probably overcome all my expectations, but not for a split second I was expecting what this experience delivered. This is one of the best games I’ve ever played in my entire life, there is so much to get impressed by here, the amazing visuals, the great soundtrack, the mind blowing gameplay mechanics and most importantly the narrative, and what a narrative, always one (or more) step(s) ahead of the player, bringing new sensations and emotions at each chapter, a true narrative-driven masterpiece, beautifully acted and superbly scripted, overall easy to get obsessed with this game. Truly a experience I wont forget or stop thinking about anytime soon. My personal TGA GAME OF THE YEAR 2023.
Played this game on my 360, then on my One, now in 2023 thinking into playing it on my PS5… This says a lot about how this was a monumental landmark in the gaming industry. Super fun, with a sharp, compelling and funny story, that even if it didn’t aged well, would still hit hard, but the truth is: IT AGED WELL, even after 10 years. It doesn’t matter how manny years have passed, if GTA V was released today, it still would be a masterpiece. But let’s not talk about GTA Online.
A must-have experience that blends and goes beyond genres. This game fascinated me from start, be it the amazing graphics and characters models, the multiplayer elements, the dense lore or even the progression. I felt immersed in the scenarios and wanted to discover more about them. Everyone that likes narrative-driven single player games, must play Death Stranding, at least to experience something different.
The most waste of potential in the entire franchise. After playing the great Resident Evil 2 (2019), I got very excited to see what Capcom would in a Resident Evil 3: Nemesis remake, but unfortunately most of my expectations weren’t as near to what was delivered here. It’s so short and fast paced, that the overall experience can become quite forgettable, even with the amazing characters modernizations and visuals.
MAIN GAME REVIEW:
While it’s successor Alan Wake II stablished itself as Remedy's magnum opus, Control was extremely necessary for the studio evolve and perfect their craft. Both of this games blend a intriguing and fresh narrative with some incredible mechanics and gameplay aspects. For me Control's most refined and engaging aspect is the gameplay, but the narrative also impresses and intrigues, although I felt that my expectations to the ending were a bit too subverted. The concepts in this game are amazing, The Oldest House and its architecture, the modus operandi of the FBC (THE FBC!!), the supernatural themes, etc. Also there are a lot of great scenes that really make me felt hyped in a way just a few games do. In conclusion Control is a must for people who love third person shooters and supernatural stories, intriguing, challenging and engaging.
This was peak. The soundtrack is amazing, it evolves everything the previous games have done, while now introducing 3D graphics into the mix, I have great memories with this game. A classic of the genre.
(Before reading, please keep in mind that this is a free to play, budget limited experience, so don’t expect a AAA experience)
Considering how the franchise was doing after the cancellation of “Silent Hills” or “P.T.” and the whole “Silent Hill: Ascension” situation, I started playing “Silent Hill: The Short Message” with zero expectations, but turns out that this was a quite enjoyable experience, for a few reasons. The first one being how this is basically a showcase of how the franchise is going to play out on its new entries, in the sense of what elements considered classics to any of the Silent Hill games are going to be maintained and how others are going to be refined and modernized, the plot for example has a true Silent Hill feel to it and at least for me, plotwise it was very engaging, loved how the disturbing themes and their depictions where handled and
developed with so much care and self awareness. The second being that this is a free to play experience with no hidden plot of being just a teaser for something you will have to buy in order to have a full experience, The Short Message stands on its own! Also liked the visuals even tho the game have obvious budget limitations (at least is free). So long story short, Silent Hill: The Short Message welcomes long time fans back to the root of what they love, while also bringing new elements to the table, showing that after everything that happened, there might be some hope left.
