Turning forty at the end of 2013 totally got me to thinking, I am getting older! What have I accomplished? Married at the young age of seventeen, I was immediately given the responsibilities of being a preacher’s wife. Over twenty years later, I have finally decided to publish a few of the many insights given to me from the life of a preacher’s wife. Together, my husband and I have the privilege of raising our three sons—Channing, Chandler, and Grant. We have been honored to pastor amazing people and to travel abroad on missions. Get to know me better by following me via social media or visit with me on my blog Worthy to Die For @pullen4u.blogspot.com.

As far back as I can recall, I have loved writing. Usually, I would just write notes in a journal or scribble thoughts on random receipts until I recently evolved into blog posts. Many years ago, my husband’s sister, Teresa, bought me a journal. On the front cover, there were two girls tending to a younger boy as he played outside. This reminded her of herself and her older sister, Cathy, watching their younger brother—my husband.
This much-loved journal is full of many testimonies, cataloged messages from my husband and sons, poetry, and numerous one-liners that I wrote throughout the years. With every word written, I understood that eventually I would see some of them in published form.
The beginning of this year, 2014, I told the good Lord that I would publish if he would help me. While in prayer, my phone rang! Roy Julius, my publishing consultant from Xlibris, was calling to encourage me to get the show on the road (my translation)! Thank you, Roy, for being my answered prayer and for making this process very easy for me.
My life has been so full of awesome men and women of God who have impacted my life for the better. There is no way to name them all! However, I must acknowledge those who I simply cannot live without.
Currently as pastor at The Tabernacle in Brandon, my husband has three elders in his life to keep him on the straight and narrow. These men and women have been a blessing to my entire family.
Thank you to Mom and Pop Hoyt for convincing me that I can do this. Your love and guidance has been a godsend to me and my family. I can truly say, "I thank God for the Lighthouse!"
Thank you, Bishop and Sis. Carney! You both have been a light to me since my teenage years. Your role as pastor to the Livingston family impacted my entire family many years ago. I appreciate your kindness and friendship.
A very special thank you to Bishop and Sis. Dillon and the entire Parkway Church family. Your support of home missions, through Apostolic Revival Conference, has continuously encouraged us. Thanks for being our friends!
My family is a source of strength for me and always makes me feel like I am unstoppable. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you all support me in this endeavor! Thank you, Cissy, for your superb editing skills. Shh! We won’t tell anyone! Let’s just make them think I am this smart!
As my financial advisor and future bodyguard (inside joke), Cayla and Phil, have been my moral support as well as an extra editing team. Thanks for your contribution to this book.
My sisters keep me balanced. They are the glue that holds me together. I’ve already mentioned my editor, which is also the oldest. She does way more than I could ever mention in this book. One day soon, I hope to catalog her story. You will definitely want to read.
Next in line is Tina. She is the family protector! I can always count on her to keep the hounds at bay (Southerners will understand). Tina is thirteen months older than me, which meant that while growing up, we were inseparable. She is my fashion advisor and keeps my wardrobe up to code!
The baby of the family is Amanda Mae Graves Sherrill! This chick is also a pastor’s wife in Ironton, Ohio. She is extremely talented and keeps us all in stitches (Southern vernacular for comedian of the family)!
All of my sisters married great men who are more like brothers than just mere in-laws. Their children are the loves of my life! Boys, boys, and more boys—with the exception of my beautiful nieces whom you will meet in this book.
Saving the first for last (and best), my brother, Beau, is the oldest. Imagine being raised with four younger sisters! He never complained and always made us all feel special and loved. He married, Floy, a special sister to us all whom we love dearly.
My nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins, etc., I love you all!
On my husband’s side of the family, we all are very close, and I truly feel their love and support while writing this book and throughout the publishing process. Thanks to all of you! Thanks, Nana, for the many grand adventures in which you kept Grant entertained as I endeavored to get this completed.
You will read much about my husband and our three sons throughout this story and those to come. They are the reason that I get up in the morning! I am grateful for their support. Especially appreciative of the many sermons that I’ve heard over the past twenty-four years of being with my one and only, Shan the Man!
For the past sixteen plus years, we have been blessed with the honor of pastoring two wonderful congregations. Eleven of those years were spent in Decatur, Alabama. For over five years now, we have been in Brandon, Mississippi. I love each and every one of you with my whole heart!
Last but not Least
Thanks be to God, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! I truly hope this is found acceptable in your sight! I live to worship you!
God bless you, my readers!
