Abstract
This paper is situated at the crossroads of text and discourse, where tools guarantee cohesion and coherence, in continuous association. Among these tools are connectors, anaphora, and “framing adverbials”: the latter are introducers of sentences whose scope can go beyond the simple sentence; the space thus determined constitutes a “discursive frame”, where the truth value of the clause or clauses is governed by this introducer and brought together in this space. In the second part, we show that these introducers, which are factors of cohesion and coherence, do not function solely in scientific or technical text genres, but also in narrative ones.
