LERON THOMAS
« Cliquish »
Out Oct.16
For an artist, the musical journey is often made of choices. When crossing multiple genre's there are high chances of being labelled vaguely or incorrectly. Leron Thomas is at the center of all music genres he likes to play, explore or listen to, never choosing one more than another.
He has been driving his spaceship alone in a very underground way, releasing his 9 projects independently, despite all the prestigious collaborations he made on stage or in studio including, Lauryn Hill, Roy Hargrove, Zara Mc Farlane, Meshell Ndegeocello.
Random and raw, bending and tangling up styles throughout his albums and sometimes even within a single track, Leron perseveres with true artistic independence. Like a musical swiss army knife Leron covers many genre’s including jazz, funk, electro-pop and rock.
When he puts down his trumpet to take the mic, Leron offers the same boldness and versatility. Whether delivering a leading melody or merely a discreet vocal line behind groovy rhythms, he has a distinctive voice; singing, crooning, caressing and moving, he is always surprising.
Cliquish was recorded between New York and Paris with the Heavenly Sweetness backing band (Florian Pellissier, Greg F, Tim Bacherand), under musical direction by Guts. Leron proudly presents Bilal, whom he has played and recorded with for many years to feature on the first single Role Play.
Cliquish has an air of mystery, unraveling like a musical labyrinth. In this maze, Leron Thomas invites the listener to enter a sound adventure, rather than letting one comfortably follow a beaten track…
