New single 'Lovely Day' by Stephane San Juan & Sambacool 9/15/20
Drummer, percussionist, singer-composer, record producer and educator. Born in France, Stephane started to work as a musician at the age of 17, San Juan’s recording and touring career includes works with Amadou & Mariam, Andy Sheppard, Bernard Purdie, Caetano Veloso, David Byrne, Elza Soares, Eumir Deodato, Gilles Peterson’s Sonzeira, Jane Birkin, Jean-Claude Vannier, Joao Donato, Kassin, Manu Dibango, Marcos Valle, Rodrigo Amarante, Seu Jorge, Wilson das Neves and many more. His first solo album « Système de Son » was released in Japan on Coreport where the record got great reviews on magazines like Latina, Intoxicate, appeared on many best album list 2014 including Rolling Stone Brasil and Billboard Brasil. The tour included the Festival Francophonie 2015, Montreux Jazz Rio & Tokyo 2016 and Rio's 2016 Olympics. In 2018 Stephane joined the David Byrne's American Utopia world tour, and released his second solo album on Buda Musique, "Saved by the Drums", a Stellar Samba Jazz LP combining classic Brazilian melodies and the rhythms of the Orixas, dedicated to his master Wilson das Neves who also features as well as Jeffrey Zeigler, Michael Leonhart and Zé Manoel. Now member of the original cast of David Byrne's American Utopia on Broadway which movie directed by Spike Lee is to be released next October. His next solo release is on September 15th 2020, first single "Lovely Day" by Sambacool featuring pianist Vitor Gonçalves and bassist Eduardo Belo.
