The Caribbean's global music ambassador, Sherwin Gardner, has had an enviable 2024. Over the months, he’s racked up over 24 million global digital streams and 1.7 billion TikTok views for one song, “Find Me Here (Blessings Find Me),” an unplanned viral hit that dropped in January.
Gardner has now compiled his six-song Find Me Here - EP (Flow Masters Records/Tyscot Records), which should further expand his popularity with these instantly loveable tracks that combine various Caribbean music styles with a Pop-flavored polish.
On the mid-tempo “Over Me” Gardner basks in being clothed in blessings because of God’s grace while “We Got God” is an airy, atmospheric, Euro-styled rhythm with an infectious chant for a chorus. “Thank You” opens as a plaintive, piano ballad and morphs into a mid-tempo rumination on the goodness of God. “There were some mountains that I thought I couldn’t climb,” he testifies. “There were some problems I had to leave behind, there were some things that seemed so big and strong but somehow, Father, you always bring them down.”
Then, Gardner teams up with veteran Christian rapper, Tedashii (known for his hits “Gotta Live” and “Dum Dum”) and Christian Hit Radio (CHR) artist Jonathan Traylor (known for his smashes “You Get the Glory” and “High Up”) for an Afrobeat remolding of Elevation Worship’s No. 1 Christian Pop radio hit “Praise” as “Praise (Lift Him Up).”
The set concludes with the dancehall track “My Blessing” that features a smooth vocal assist from Jamaica’s Kevin Downswell and a sprightly deejay sequence from Trinidad & Tobago’s Positive. It’s a feel-good declaration that builds into a warm anthem of gratitude. Throughout, Gardner’s distinctive tenor stretches with muscular elasticity to convey hope and gratitude on an unforgettable set of songs that are just as satisfying and relaxing as a vacation in the islands.
