A musical chameleon, Barbara’s unique voice and musical palette transcends genres. Her sound incorporates elements of 70’s disco, early-2000’s reggae, all the way to afrobeats, and hip hop. Doza, born Barbara Patricia Mendoza, wrote her first song at the age of 10. While her musical skills were still developing, she was forced to flee her native Venezuela to escape the ongoing political and economic crisis.
She relocated to Puerto Rico with her family where she began making strides in her burgeoning recording career. The devastation of Hurricane Maria prompted Barbara to once again leave her home and move to Miami – that’s when Barbara met Yeti Beats (Doja Cat’s long-time executive producer) who immediately recognized her superstar potential and decided to take her under his wing.
