Revolution new theme available. With Teassie on vocals. Produced by John Fryer and Tonko Yutronic
VORTEX is a collective and interdisciplinary musical project, formed by Alan Acuña
and Christian Leyssen in 2019 in Santiago de Chile, after Alan’s return from a
decade of living in Europe, between UK and Switzerland.
Both musician friends got together again after many years, in order to create new
music and also revisit some of their former musical work. It is important to note that
this coincided with a historical Social Revolution that took place in Santiago de
Chile in October 2019.
VORTEX, is not just an ordinary band, but rather a project that combines different
collaborations from visual artists and musicians, with the goal to enrich the
outcome and final work.
The thematic and lyrical inspiration of the first songs, are based on the current
social and political situation of Chile, with an aim to expose it to the world. Hence
the Project’s official language is English.
Both members have experience playing in different indie bands from the early ‘90s
in the Chilean music scene, such as 2CV6, Truman, Luna in Caelo, Invierno, Los
Ponchera, among others. This explains why VORTEX has an identity and defined
music style that derives from Post-Punk, New Wave, Dark Wave and Shoegaze,
among other styles and variants.
VORTEX is currently releasing and promoting in every digital platform their first
Single called “VOICES”, with a special guest on vocals, the English singer Tessie
Spoljaric-Woodgate (aka “Tessie” and former “Intimate Stranger”).
At the same time, the band is also working on their first EP called “RESET” on the
independent record label “Crisis Records” with the Chilean sound engineer Tonko
Yutronic and the awarded English producer John Fryer, best known for his work
with bands such as Cocteau Twins, Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, Paradise
Lost, This Mortal Coil, Fad Gadget, Clan of Xymox, Nitzer Ebb, Yazoo, Black
Needle Noise, Love and Rockets and Peter Murphy.
