As a DJ:
Serdar AYYILDIZ started his career as a radio Dj in 1995. Afterwards, he carried on his job as a club dj. Meanwhile, he performed in many clubs, events, openings, festivals and fashion nights in Turkey and abroad. He preferred using analogue voices and his own-created percussions rather than depending on digital voices on the computer while he was performing and producing; thus, he managed to awaken Turkish music lovers’ interests and became an important musician. Describing the sound, he escaped routinizing the music. Furthermore, he used the advantages of living in a country, where has been a bridge between cultures around the world, in his music. Mixing the instruments and styles of different cultures he was exposed to, he aimed to announce sound of his unique multicultural country, Turkey, to the World.
Educational background:
He improved his musical skills by taking courses in many different areas for his sound. He focused on computer programs and became familiar with even the most complex sequencer programs. As he was taking courses, he carried on producing and remixing. The courses Serdar AYYILDIZ has taken include psycho-acoustic, sound physic and electronic music production, Cubase, arrangement, musical history, recording technics, mixing and mastering. Having spent 2 years of his education in Moda Music Academy, he graduated as the rank 1 student. He professionally uses the programs such as Ableton, Cubase, Logic Pro, Propellerhead and Reason; moreover, he gives courses in several institutes.
Music Directorship:
Serdar AYYILDIZ carries on his career not only as a dj but also as a music director by using his experiments going back many years to create concepts specified to the locations. Recently, he is the music director of many well-known bars, clubs and restaurants such as Midpoint, Huqqa Project, The Market Bosphorus, Welldone, Halikarnas The Club, Huxo, Flambe, Louise Ankara ve The Gourmand. In his system, music concepts of each location depends on menus and regular customers. Moreover, each playlist is updated monthly and served to the locations.
To make up the deficiency in this area, he founded a production company called Soul Fabrik Music & Dj Technologies. Incorporating dozens of professional djs, this company not only serves playlists, but also has resident and temporary dj services. Soul Fabrik has the widest Dj equip ever in Turkey.
Remix and Production works:
Following the developing studio technologies from early 2000’s, Ayyıldız added remixing and productions skills to his djing skills. He remixed many Turkish and foreign songs, and made them listened again. He added emotions to his Turkish remixes, and created an unique concept. Thanks to his new concept, many Turkish electronic song listeners who listen only foreign songs became familiar with Turkish remixes. He produced Turkish songs in Tech House genre which has an important position in the World-sound. Having started a new trend, Serdar AYYILDIZ opened a new page in Turkish electronic music. Furthermore, he remixed songs in mash-up style which hadn’t been well-known before in Turkey. After publishing his first mash-up in 2006, he became very popular on radio channels and in clubs.
In 2008, he remixed the Neh Nah Nah (Vaya Con Dios) song which hit the headlines. In a week after being published, the remix managed to be one of the top listened songs in several local and foreign channels. Furthermore, the remix entered for the top 10 lists in Greek, French, Bulgarian, Italian, Egyptian, Russian and Belgian radio channels. Serdar AYYILDIZ is the first person ever remixed that song. Afterwards, many djs around the World created different versions of that song.
Album works:
- While producing songs, he used the advantages of having been borned and living in Turkey such as being familiar with different cultural sounds. At this point, he published his first album ‘Dualis’ which was sold world-wide. The album contains remixes of western-eastern-northern and southern popular djs. The albums contains remixes of djs such as Pantelis the most popular dj of Greece, Dr.K. Nii & Shia from Egypt night life, Sean Bay who is Tunisian and living in Paris, the skillful young Moshe Edri from Israel and one of the most popular djs in Belgium, Virtiligo.
- He published a compilation album of the Midpoint restaurants ,music of where is directored by Serdar AYYILDIZ, named Midpoint Lounge by Serdar AYYILDIZ under the Universal Music and Avrupa music labels. Album ranked 4. in the top sellers.
- He produced ‘Bi Men Maro’ song with the popular flute player Burcu KARADAĞ and dedicated the song for his brother Gökhan AYYILDIZ who died in a young age. The songs have been placed into many albums such as Prophet Collection, Buddha Bar, The Best Ethnic Music. What is more, the song ranked 3. In top sellers of iTunes Lounge music list.
- He worked with many singers such as Tarkan, Ferhat Göçer, Mustafa Ceceli, Emre Aydın, Gülden Mutlu, Yıldız Tilbe, Soner Arıca, Yeşim Salkım, Keremcem, Atiye, Aynur Aydın, Kendi, Zeliha Sunal, Aydın Kurtoğlu, Hande Ataizi, Tuğba Özerk ve Ege Çubukçu and made official arrangements.
- He worked with the popular singer Yeşim Salkım to re-arrange the song ‘Unutursun Gönlüm’ (songwriter: Zeynep Talu, composer: Garo Mafyan), which was reinterpreted by Seçil in 90s, by using today’s sounds. The song, clip of which is directed by Kemal Başbuğ, became very popular both on radio and Tv channels and in clubs. Yeşim SALKIM and Serdar AYYILDIZ performed together in both local and foreign night clubs.
- He arranged the first dubstep based song of Turkish music history called ‘Şivesi Sensin Aşkın’ with the popular singer Yıldız TİLBE. Additionally, it was the beginning point of his musical works with Yıldız TİLBE. ‘Gönül Vakti’, ‘Yankılandı Aşk’ ve ‘Aşkıma Yenildim’. ‘Aşkıma Yenildim’ Is the first slow Turkish song ever which was arranged by a dj. In the meantime, they together gave many live performances.
- He has taken the stage with many world-wide names such as Inna, Far East Movement, Laidback Luke, Gregor Salto, Dj Chucky, Milk n Sugar, Denis Ferrer, Roger Sanchez, Adam Clay, Camilla Jones, Keith Thompson ve Chocolate Puma.
- He entered with 2 remixes to the album of the great classic Cancion Del Mariachi which became popular after the film Desperado by Antonio Banderas. He prepared programs for many important radio channels such as Radio D, Virgin, Radyo Mega, Ibiza Sonica Radio and Radio Monte Carlo.
- His Dualis song was placed in many ethnic and lounge music compilations such as Buddha Bar. Then, he prepared programs for Buddha Bars. He carries on his program on Radio Monte Carlo Buddha Bar Presets (Orient Express by Serdar AYYILDIZ)
- In addition to his remixes for albums, he published many albums, single and EP’s on the most popular digital music shops such as Beatport, Spotify, Amazon, Trackitdown and Juno. He published many works under the world-wide known music labels such as Bonzai Music Nemesis, Interlabel Records (Jerry Ropero), Essential House Records (Dario Nunez), Saifam (Adam Clay) and Universal music in particular.
As an Educator:
He established the Turkish step of Ecler Dj Division which is created in every country by a Spanish company named ECLER which produced the first dj mixer in the history and keeps being the best mixer producer.
He is the Turkish representative and educator of an international dj equip including Antoine Clamaran, Ricardo Villalobos, Gigi D'Agostino, Michael Mayer, John Acquaviva, Satoshi Tomiie, Kaskade and Abel Ramos.
He founded dj schools in Istanbul and Eskişehir. He gave seminaries in many universities around Turkey. Using the best dj mixer in the world (Ecler Evo 5), he turned his performances to a visual show in the events sponsored by Ecler.
He performed in Ibiza Ushuaia which is one of the top 10 places of the world as a guest dj of Ecler.
Finally, to share his experiments and knowledge, he founded one of the biggest dj schools of Europe: Istanbul Dj Academy. Istanbul Dj Academy is in İstinye where is one of the most beautiful locations of Istanbul. Moreover, he publishes lectures for studio technologies, recording technics and djing in digital educative websites such as Uzman TV.
