Charlie Haden said about Anne Paceo:
“She impressed me immensely with her talent, musicality, proficiency and her dedication to her art form. Her distinct style and sound make her unique.”
Born in 1984, she spent her childhood in Daloa, Ivory Coast, hearing the beat of great drum masters practicing next to her family’s home. Anne Paceo is a globetrotting, trail-blazing drummer who as far as she can remember has always felt the fundamental, relentless and insatiable urge to play, create and share her music. Driven by her passion she has performed in over 45 countries, on 5 continents, as a leader and as a sidewomen, with some of the greatest musicians, has won 3 times Victoire de la Musique (French Grammy Awards) and recorded as leader 1 EP & 6 critically acclaimed albums-the first at 24 years old. She is now preparing her 7th album called S.H.A.M.A.N.E.S
In 2005 Anne founded her first trio with which she released two albums, « Triphase » in 2008 and « empreintes » in 2008 meanwhile she was she graduating at the Conservatoire National de Musique de Paris. Then, 3 years later, with a new group called « Yokai » she released her record of the same name.
With the composite album Circles released in 2016, in which she explores at once pop, jazz and hip hop, followed by the live album Fables of Shwedagon (2018), recorded with musicians from Myanmar, a signature talent for melody and musical poetry clearly emerges. Qualities which are confirmed even transcended today with Bright Shadows (2019 ) which follows suite from Circles. Once again no boundaries, they are too restrictive. Pop, folk, jazz, electro have a voice, they mingle and are modulated at wish as imagined and orchestrated by Anne Paceo.
A much sought after accompanist, she has performed as sidemen with many great French and international jazz icons (Archie Shepp, Charlie Haden, Michel Legrand, Christian Escoudé, Rhoda Scott, Yaron Herman, Rick Margitza, Henri Texier, Andy Sheppard, Alain Jean-Marie, China Moses, European Jazz Orchestra, …) but also with bands from the independent French Rock scene (Jeanne Added, Mélissa Laveaux, les têtes raides) as well as from the World Music scene ( Lena Chamamyan, Myanmar meets Europe,…)
Anne Paceo was artist in residency at Festival Jazz sous les Pommiers from may 2018 to September 2020.
In October 2020 she was invited to be « mentor » at Montreux Jazz Academy with John Mc Laughlin and the Snarky Puppy.
