Born and raised on isles of the Dutch & French Caribbean, currently based in Amsterdam, Kris Berry's latest album BERRY STREET was released late spring of 2017.
In search of the new sound for her record, Berry merged Gospel, Soul, Hip-Hop and her love for the ninetees in a most sensual way.
BERRY STREET in many ways, is the harmonic configuration of most of her childhood; Ghetto blaster on her shoulder; Southern Gospel from recollections of Sunday School hymns. The echo of Nina Simone on grandma's stereo as well as the imprint of an ever eclectic message from Wyclef Jean, to Tracey Chapman.
A "personal, rhythmic, soulful and modern take on the ninetees" inspired by a wide range of artists and a cross-genre perspective.
Think Staple Singers, Emily King, Bobbie Gentry, Erykah Badu and Quadron.
