James Vine, aka ENiGMA Dubz, has been the worst kept secret in the global bass music scene for more than a decade.
From dubstep to future garage, grime to liquid drum & bass - the dexterous DJ and producer is equally adept at unleashing the weightiest bass-heavy drops as crafting expansive cinematic electronic soundscapes.
Initially making garage from his Birmingham bedroom under the name DJ V, aged 20 James’ 2008 bootleg of Faithless’ We Come One was Kissy Sell Out’s track of the month on BBC Radio 1.
The ENiGMA Dubz alias was born that year, after James experienced the cream of UK dubstep at SubDub’s legendary Exodus night - including Skream, Plastician & Digital Mystiks.
High profile support from Laidback Luke, Chase & Status and regular YouTube features on MrSuicideSheep, Majestic Casual and Ganja Music led to 2015’s debut double album The Journey so Far.
After a resurgence back into the scene in 2019, 2020 saw Part of You (ENiGMA Dubz Remix) be one of his top streamed songs to date, landing on Spotify’s Creamy playlist.
2021 was marked with big releases on Truth’s Deep Dark & Dangerous and DUPLOC with the producer a regular fixture on Beatport’s Deep Dubstep chart - alongside getting back out on the road in the US and Europe - all ahead of his hotly anticipated third album in 2022.
