After debuting his off-Broadway show “To Whom It May Concern,” New York City based musician Mark White is ready to give listeners a peak into his soul with “Skyline.” The EP comes shortly after White won the city-wide competition “New York’s Got Talent.”
The album’s title track is a beacon of hope for anyone who needs it. The lyrics of “Skyline” pack an emotional punch as the musician sings about overcoming obstacles and “reaching for the skyline.” It’s uplifting, heartbreaking and everything in-
between. We all have someone we could dedicate “Carousel” to. This song is for the people we’ve boarded a “never ending merry-go-round” for with no sign of stopping.
While the techno tune of “Church Boy” will most likely be in your head for days, the words behind the music are what will stick even longer. The song details feelings of oppression in a place that is meant to be a safe haven. White's signature music move is having the words on his heart match the ones in his song. “Church Boy” and “Repeat What You’ve Learned” are the most emotionally raw songs on this EP. Anyone who has ever felt like who they are and what they stand for isn’t enough can relate to these tracks.
When you give White a microphone and a piano, he is unstoppable. “Skyline” is rich with quote-worthy lyrics and stories that will tug at the heartstrings. ~Victoria Priola~
