Los Angeles songwriter/producer RYTERBAND announces his new single and video “Take Me Over,” the second release from his debut EP Undefended, due out this spring. The EP is co-produced by multiple-GRAMMY-winner Robert Cutarella. “Take Me Over” is the second act of a music video trilogy that tells the story of a lost office worker who finds the strength to break out of her monotonous life in search of deeper meaning. The story is at once autobiographical and universal.
“‘Take Me Over’ is an invocation to the muse,” says creator Jason Ryterband. “It is the voice of every artist, every seeker, every lover, praying for that elusive, cosmic tailwind that propels us toward something sacred.”
A creative polymath, Ryterband has been channeling his passion into music, dance, visual media, and a variety of bands and partnerships ever since joining his first a cappella group at the University of Pennsylvania. But it was the catalyzing influence of meditation that turned a distant whisper into the electronic rallying cry that is RYTERBAND.
“Meditation showed me my soul,” says Ryterband. “‘Take Me Over’ invites you to meet yours. It’s a celebration. It’s a spell. It’s an homage to passion, creativity, and connection.”
Throughout Undefended, Ryterband weaves universal stories of empowerment and love, combining haunting vocals with lush production that spans the continuum between rock, ambient, and EDM. “It can just as easily make you dance as it can make you cry.”
Ryterband’s versatility has landed him numerous placements in TV and film as a composer, songwriter, and vocalist. His work has appeared on 30 television shows including Brooklyn 99, The Good Place, Rules of Engagement, and Arrested Development. He has also been placed in 12 films, highlighted by Footloose, Prom, and Sponge Bob 2, along with advertisements for Cadillac, Budweiser, Ikea, and Payless Shoes. As a singer and frontman, he has performed throughout LA, including appearances at The Roxy, House of Blues, and dozens of other venues. He has edited music on many hit television shows, including Euphoria, Superstore, and Superior Donuts. In December 2019, he was nominated for a Golden Reel for music editorial on season four of The Good Place.
