Brazilian jazz and pop singer Ithamara Koorax has been voted, for several years, one of the best jazz singers of the world by DownBeat and other magazines. In 2008 and 2009, Koorax placed third on the "Female Vocalist" category on the 73rd DownBeat Readers Polls, with Diana Krall in the first place and Cassandra Wilson in second. She has released 25 solo albums and appeared in over 200 records. Koorax has worked with Antonio Carlos Jobim, Luiz Bonfa, Eumir Deodato, Dave Brubeck, Ron Carter, John McLaughlin, Larry Coryell, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Marcos Valle, Azymuth, Edu Lobo, Hermeto Pascoal, Dom Um Romao, Joao Donato, Martinho da Vila, Arnaldo DeSouteiro and many others. She recorded soundtracks for 10 TV Globo soap operas and 8 movies, performed in over 20 countries and had his songs remixed by such famous DJs as Parov Stelar and Tom Novy.
