Carlos Malta is a renowned wind player in Brazil, who has been a professional musician since the age of 18. He has performed in over 30 tours around the world and played in some of the biggest international music festivals in cities such as Montreal, Cannes, Hamburg, Paris, North Sea, Vancouver, Pori, and Copenhagen. Carlos has also performed with many musicians such as Egberto Gismonti, Pat Metheny, Ernie Watts, Gil Evans, Marcus Miller, and Charlie Haden.
Since 1993, Carlos Malta has been a solo artist and has performed at the Free Jazz Festival in 1997 with his bands Coreto Urbano and Pife Muderno, which was highly praised by critics. He has also worked as a session musician, participating as a soloist, an ensemble member, and/or an arranger for many artists such as Gal Costa, Lenine, Sérgio Mendes, Edu Lobo, Leila Pinheiro, Guinga, Marcos Suzano, Myazawa Kazufumi, Caetano Veloso, Paralamas do Sucesso, Ivan Lins, and Sérgio Ricardo. Carlos Malta has also contributed to the soundtracks of several movies such as A Ostra e o Vento, Tieta do Agreste, Guerra de Canudos, and Mandacaru.
Throughout his career, Carlos Malta has recorded nine solo albums between 1993 and 2024, showcasing his unique style and originality. He is truly a master of his craft and has made significant contributions to the world of music.
