Netflix fans are still raving over 'one of the greatest shows ever made' seven years after its launch.
Almost a decade ago in 2016, Jon Bernthal, 48, made his debut as Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, in the second season of Daredevil, a vigilante who enacts revenge on villains using extremely violent methods.
While a spin-off with Jon starring as the lead wasn't originally in the pipeline, the actor's performance was so widely acclaimed by viewers and critics that the following year the show became a reality.
So in 2017, The Punisher launched on Netflix, introducing fans to a show that many to this day have lauded as one of their favourites.
As the show's seventh anniversary came around, fans on Reddit and X were amazed that seven years had already passed by and continued to sing the show's praises.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one fan wrote: '‘I'd love a new season of this'; 'Still one of my favourite Marvel series.'; 'The Punisher is someone I never expected to like but I’m glad I do. Happy 7 years.';

While another fan claimed the first season of The Punisher was 'fantastic' describing it as a 'gem in the Marvel Netflix era.'
One fan said: 'One of my favourite shows. Ever' while another said the show had 'changed their life.'
The Punisher was one of a string of Marvel shows that were released on Netflix before it was removed from the platform and made available to stream on Disney+ instead.
While some of the shows based on the beloved comic book characters currently have uncertain futures following the transition including Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist - Daredevil is set to be rebooted next year as Daredevil: Born Again.
The upcoming nine-partner will see Charlie Cox reprise his role as the lead Matt Murdock opposite Vincent D'Onofrio as the villainous Wilson Fix.
Meanwhile Jon will also be making his highly-anticipated return as The Punisher.
Now both shows are back together, fans are hoping that a third season of the action-packed series will be on the cards after its second outing premiered in 2019 two years after the first.
One fan said on X: 'It was fantastic and I’m hoping he gets to continue his series like Daredevil with Disney Plus.'

The series follows Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) who becomes a vigilante known as The Punisher after exacting revenge on those responsible for his family's deaths.
He uncovers a conspiracy that goes beyond New York's criminal underworld and must discover the truth about injustices that affect more than just him and his family.
Assisting the vigilante in his quest to fight criminals are best friend Billy Russo, who runs the private military corporation Anvil, and former NSA analyst Micro, who shares common enemies with Castle and helps him as part of a so-called marriage of convenience.
Earlier this year, Jon was seen covered in blood in Brooklyn as he got into his character The Punisher for the upcoming series Daredevil: Born Again.

The actors join returning Netflix Daredevil star Vincent as Wilson Fisk a.k.a. Kingpin.
The series comes more than a year after Charlie's surprise cameo in 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home, with Marvel President Kevin Feige confirming shortly thereafter that Cox would return as Daredevil in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
While most of the recent Marvel Cinematic Universe shows debuting on Disney Plus have typically spanned between six and nine episodes, Daredevil: Born Again will have a super-sized order of 18 episodes.
The show takes its title from an iconic 1986 comic run written by Frank Miller and illustrated by David Mazzuchelli, though this show is said to deviate heavily from that story.
The Punisher is available to stream on Disney+ and Netflix.
