Session 1: NIL Marketing in Context  - (10:05 AM – 11:00 AM) 

This opening session, presented in a talk-show style format, provides an overview of the evolution of NIL marketing. The discussion addresses key questions such as: How did we arrive at this point with NIL marketing? What changes were implemented by the NCAA? When? Why? What is the historical significance of power and control in NIL agreements, and how have athletes from different sports and backgrounds been impacted? This session is co-hosted by Dr. Christina Myers from Michigan State University and Dr. Ed Timke from Advertising & Society Quarterly.
